Progress has disintegrated in the atmosphere of the Earth – CBC

The Russian Space Agency announced in a statement that the space freighter Progress M-27 entered the Earth’s atmosphere Friday morning around 5 am, Eastern Time, and fragments of debris could fall into the Pacific Ocean .

The agency Roscosmos says the atmospheric entry was made in the central Pacific region, but was not more specific.

Most of the fragments were probably consumed by the friction caused by the Earth’s atmosphere. None of them has so far been located.

Progress M-27 began a fall to Earth soon after the launch of the ship, April 28, from the Baikonur Cosmodrome in Kazakhstan. The unmanned spacecraft was to supply the crew of the International Space Station, but the Russian Space Agency lost control before docking.

The next flight supply the occupants of the station, which will be launched this time by the US private company SpaceX, is scheduled for next month.
