New Year 2015: the number of cars burned down – L’Express

New Year festivities in 2015 were better place than last year. So says Thursday the interior ministry by publishing statistics. 940 vehicles were burned in the night against 1,067 last year. These 127 standard cars are down 12%.

There also were fewer arrests this year (308 against 322 in 2013) but more investment in custody (251 against 221 in 2013).

“The consistent, active and dissuasive mobilization of security forces has helped prevent the occurrence of major incidents in the country, except in Paris where a brawl caused the death of a young man “, welcomed the Interior Ministry in a statement.

An investigation was opened into the drama, apparently caused by a dispute between two “marginal or homeless.”
