Windows 10 would be passed Windows 8.1 – ZDNet France

With a free upgrade but mostly forced, Windows 10 logically knows a faster adoption rate than its predecessors. And the latest figures from StatCounter seem to confirm this.

The specialist which measures the proportion of use of the OS based on the collection of data on more than 3 million websites says Windows 10 is passed Windows 8.1 since the beginning of the end of December. On January 17, his share would be 13.4% against 12.4% at end-December.

Windows 8.1′s side went over the same period from 12.2% to 11.5%. Despite this slight increase in the latest Microsoft Windows 7 is good that continues to reign supreme with a share of 47% to 17 January against 46.7% at end-December.

Christmas PC activations so have a little advantage to Windows 10 but also and especially to Windows 7 that ultimately remains stable. In France, we note that Windows 10 has risen to 17 January to 17.6% utilization, to 8.1 to 15% and behind Windows 7 to 35.4%.

Comparisons remain hazardous, the Windows distribution model 10 is unprecedented. Meanwhile, StatCounter figures do not cover a whole month, you will have to wait for the end of January confirm this new hierarchy.

so difficult to speak of adopting “fast” or “faster” than previous versions. Windows will be recalled that 10 comes after the failure of the previous version, Windows 8. Similarly, Windows 7 was quickly adopted because it followed another failure, Vista. Thus, six months after its launch, Windows 7 reached 11.92% market share, that is to say, more than Windows 10 to 11.87%.

Microsoft assures, Windows 10 is the version of Windows which
growth trajectory is the fastest. Yet the figures of Use
like StatCounter does not, however, tell the same story.
