Google and LG come to formalize the LG Watch Sports and LG Watch Style. These two watches are connected are the first to ship the latest version of the OS for smartwatches Google’s Android Wear 2.0.
The new version of the interface that team these two watches, is more of an evolution of the OS than a revolution but it brings several notable changes, including more customization of dials or a new way to respond to messages. It also includes a direct access to the Play Store and Google Assistant, which for the moment only speak English and German. Google says that other languages will be added in the coming months.
a Few points in common
Let’s turn to the hardware. The LG Watch Sports and LG Watch Style are driven by a Snapdragon Wear 2100 clocked at 1.1 GHz that the Korean manufacturer describes as the processor for the ” wearables next-gen “, in other words, the connected accessories of the future. The two watches feature a round dial with a knob for simple navigation in menus.
A first press of this button gives access to the list of apps, a second brings you back to the main screen. Finally, turn this button allows you to view the notifications, scroll in the text or in a list of apps as well as zoom in or zoom out in a map. An operation which is not without recalling that of the crown digital of the Apple Watch. Beyond these commonalities, the design of the Watch Sport is distinctly more massive than the Watch Style.
Watch Sport, a watch of massive and richly equipped

With its stainless steel housing mat which reached 14.2 mm thick, the Watch Sport imposes. It will without doubt not the smallest wrists, in the context of everyday use, with its large diameter of 45.4 mm. But it was necessary to it to accommodate all the technology that it uses. On the side of the dial, there are three buttons two of which are customizable. By default, the top one gives access to Google Fit, the one at the bottom Android Pay and that of the centre to the different functions mentioned above. The Watch Sport comes with a polyurethane strap, thermoplastic, and will be marketed in two colors, titanium or dark blue.
Side equipment, it is located under the screen P-Oled 1,38 inch of the Watch Sports : 768 Mb ram, 4 Gb of storage space and numerous sensors including a GPS, a barometer, a sensor, heart sensor and ambient light. The battery reaches 430 mAh, but, according to The Verge, which was able to test the watch first-hand, its many capabilities prevent it from holding more than a dozen hours. Quite disappointing, except for the exclusive reservation of this watch to sports sessions.
Side connectivity, this watch is also full since it integrates Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.2, 4G and NFC. Certified to IP68, resistant to dust and bear splashing water or may accompany you in the shower. It will be better however to leave the locker room to go swimming.
The Watch Style, a model quite standard

The design of the LG Watch Style is more elegant. More fine, with 10,79 mm thick, it features a stainless steel case matte 42.3 mm diameter (slightly less wide than the Sport model !), in which a screen is P-Oled 1.2 inch is embedded in it. She took advantage of a strap 18 mm silicone or leather – that can easily be replaced – and is available in three colours : silver, pink gold, or titanium.
Side equipment, the Watch Style is a watch connected pretty standard. It boasts 512 Mb ram and offers 4 Gb of storage space. It has an accelerometer, a gyroscope and a light sensor but the impasse over the cardiac sensing and GPS. Level connectivity, it offers Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.2 t but no 4G. Finally, it boasts a battery with a 240 mAh battery, which according to The Verge, does not confer an autonomy of one day. She has finally of the certification IP67. In other words, it is resistant to dust and splashes and brief immersion.
The LG Watch Sport and Watch Style, which will be presented at MWC 2017, are the first watches to run Android Wear 2.0, but the update of the OS will be also a score of other models.
The two smartwatches by LG will be available in the United States, from the 10th February next, for the respective prices of 349 and (from) 249$ . They will then be marketed in other countries, but no release date in France has not yet been specified.
