The acquisition of Bouygues Telecom saw SFR – L’Express

Since last November, the Patrick Drahi teams are SFR levers. And the prospect of becoming “the first high definition operator,” the telecom tycoon (owner of L’Express) speeds. He just put 10 billion euros to buy the number 3 in the sector, Bouygues Telecom. An offer that the Board of Directors of Bouygues planchera from 18h.

At SFR, acquired last year by Numericable, the teams make their concerns “including the middle management.” It must be said that internally, the connection with the cable operator “has been forced march.” While Patrick Drahi is expected this Tuesday at Bercy to meet Emmanuel Macron, L’Express spoke with Jacques Defrance , Steward (SMILE, independent union created in 2014 by veterans of the CFE GSC) and member of the works council of Numericable, SFR group. A group which, according to the trade unionist, “the SFR transformation project is implemented by slicing to limit the view and the overall treatment impact.” Interview.

How do you see the idea of a rapprochement between Numericable, SFR and Bouygues Telecom?

I think that this rapprochement would be rather favorable for SFR. But we know that Drahi method can have an impact on employees. Since the acquisition by Numericable, we have implemented an internal tool AXONE (developed by SMILE union, ed) for employees so they can we trace their feelings, their opinions. And what predominates is the worry and stress. Despite all that, this merger would be positive for the group because it would both financial consolidation and complementary networks. But when one is able to put 10 billion euros on the table, we should be able to put a few million for employees and especially to ensure those who do not find their place in the new group of reassuring starting conditions.

Bouygues unions have expressed strong concerns over employment. What side SFR?

We have signed a employment protection which runs until 2017 but that did not stop people from starting (between 150 and 200 people), especially under pressure. Management says that these are quite normal rate, but there still are people who leave because they are tired. In the corridors, a phrase often comes up: “When is my turn?”. The owners may wait maturity from 2017 to make maneuvers, but we think that with the coming duplicates, about 3000 jobs would be threatened. The problem is they will not do that people from Bouygues.

What were the social consequences of the integration between SFR and Numericable?

Officially, the reorganization only displays 67 job cuts. They must find an internal reclassification. But many, especially in the top and the “middle” management have been pushed towards the exit.

At SFR, how did the early months of the Drahi era?

They only arrived in November, but it looks like they have been there for years. We advance a little forced march. But they do, the financial results for the first quarter are in line with objectives. From a business perspective, Drahi wants to boost 4G, fiber and very high definition. They want to focus on nearby land with the customer, the “cable to the old”. Internally, teams want to implement a new model of outsourcing and the impact is very strong. 30% are asked by one, -30% and there. If you can not do it, we change supplier, often in favor of Numericable providers. But we are only at the beginning of the reorganization. It is difficult to judge the impact of the ratio “outsourcing / internalization” of employees.

Le Canard chained spoke early June the possibility of relocating a Moroccan call center in Madagascar. Would that seem plausible?

Again, if asked -30% Madagascar is quite able to answer that.

There is much talk of “Drahi method”, what exactly is this method?

The Drive! When you have a problem, it is put on the table and they say “we do that and nothing else.” Either one is capable of doing it internally or externally we find the solution. And then there are also a lot of communication. When Patrick Drahi went to the National Assembly recently, he managed to explain to members of the commission that his contract was cheaper than coffee 2 euros that MPs are paid each day. That’s the “Drahi method”.
