The Philae probe is “fully awake” – Le Point

Philae “is fully awake,” said Jean-Yves Le Gall, president of the French space agency CNES, making status of a “second contact” on Monday with European robot. The contact took place “there are a few tens of minutes,” he said on France 2 at 7 am 40. The comet “tchouri” on which the robot landed, “is growing effervescence, there are jets of gas, dust jets, and thanks to Philae, is seen live, “said Jean-Yves Le Gall. “This is a first in the history of humanity,” said President of the National Centre for Space Studies, calling Philae as “the most important spatial experience of the first thirty years of the century”.

“tchouri” is gradually approaching the Sun – it is currently 210 million kilometers of it – and the robot was able to get out of its torpor by improving brightness and elevation temperature. The mission of Rosetta and Philae seeks to unravel the evolution of the solar system since birth, comets are considered remnants of primitive matter.
