Getting started with the LG 360 VR: virtual reality, light version – 01net.com

Like Samsung, LG has taken advantage of the Mobile World Congress to present a 360 degree ecosystem, in addition to its LG G5. If the first added the Gear 360 Gear VR his camera, LG has launched a headset and a camera simultaneously.

But unlike its rival, the LG 360 VR features two screens. No need to put your smartphone in front of your eyes, it is connected by USB Type-C. A choice that can offer a much more slim and lightweight device. With certain disadvantages.

donning the helmet, we appreciate immediately its low weight. But soon it turned on, it is clear what will be his limit, namely the lack of immersion. We were on a noisy and bright stand, which is clearly not optimal. But the helmet is too late to completely cover the field of vision. Hard to focus on what is happening in the virtual world when we see half that surrounds us.

The other problem of this helmet just the display quality. Both lenses are adjustable for myopic. A good idea that can not overshadow the resolution of 960 x 720 pixels per eye. It is too limited to fully enjoy the content. By adding the latency immediately generates an unpleasant feeling dizzy, we are left with a product that you do not necessarily want to keep on the nose.

Raphael Grably – Two rather convenient buttons

LG has not been all bad ideas for his virtual reality helmet. The presence of two buttons on one of the slices can control their smartphone without having to remove the headset. It is thus faced with a virtual wall of applications that can be selected by directing the head. Easy to use and very effective.

Coupled with the LG 360 CAM, imagine watching videos at 360 degrees captured by his friends on the other side of the world. Rather nice use … for those who do not want to be totally immersed in the virtual world.
