the agreement stipulates that both parties use the same vehicle to implement their autonomous driving functions. The aim is that Volvo vehicles build “basic” and Uber buys those of the Swedish manufacturer. These base vehicles will be developed from the new SPA platform, already used by the XC90, S90 and V90. Under this agreement, Volvo and Uber also continue to work independently of each other in their strategies whose ultimate goal is to run to run, a 100% autonomous car. This is the first time that a company “technology” Silicon Valley joined forces with a car brand “conventional”. Both companies believe that this is the starting point of a long-term strategy and a fruitful industrial partnership. (Belga)
