Three tourists were killed and two others seriously injured in a climbing accident occurred Wednesday on the GR20 in Corsica. The accident occurred in the middle of the afternoon to more than 1,500 meters above sea level on the route of the hiking trail 20 (GR20) that runs through all Corsica above the village of Asco .

Major emergency resources deployed
Very significant emergency resources have been implemented with a command post at Asco. Fifty rescuers including high mountain police and firefighters, including high mountain specialists were engaged in this operation, and five helicopters (three squirrels civil Security and two military air Pumas based on Ventiseri-Solenzara in Corsica) and about twenty vehicles.
One of the most serious mountain accidents in Corsica

Thousands of trekkers from around the world, often inexperienced, annually traverse the GR20 (200 km in two weeks) reputed to be one of the toughest in the world and where frequent accidents occur.
