Samsung invests in SigFox and creates an innovation center in Paris – L’Express

A few months after its fundraising 100 million, SigFox announces the Samsung to its capital. The South Korean group will use the communication protocol of the start-up Toulouse to integrate it into its new platform Artik, designed for connected objects. This platform will equip all devices produced by the conglomerate in 2020.

The partnership was at the heart of a series of announcements made by the head of Samsung as part of the group’s investments Korean in France, which will also pass through the creation of an “innovation center” Boulevard de Strasbourg in Paris, specializing in the cloud and the Internet of Things. It will have a dozen people by the end of the year.

These investments were welcomed by the Minister of Economy, who attended the presentation at the Mutuality. Emmanuel Macron said that France, “with quality universities, top researchers and now an attractive tax system,” could attract large groups.

SigFox realized a lift of more than € 100 million fund in February, a record for a French start-up, which involved groups such qu’Engie, Air Liquide or Telefonica and that the public bank Bpifrance. Thanks to its partnership with Samsung, the company intends to set up in South Korea.
