Wake robot Philae on the comet “tchouri” – Le Monde

After landing, Philae was left between cliffs in a dim place.

The robot Philae, which is on the comet “tchouri” awoke in the night from Saturday to Sunday (CNES). “We were able to retrieve signals from him for two minutes and 40 seconds of data” , said Jean-Yves Le Gall, president of CNES, the French space agency, confirming a report revealed RTL.

After traveling ten years in the company of Rosetta and traveled more than 6 billion kilometers, Philae had managed a historical first by landing 12 November 2014 on the comet 67P / Tchourioumov- Gerasimenko.

But the landing of the robot laboratory, equipped with instruments to study the comet, was not easy. After several rebounds, he found himself between cliffs in a dim place.

The robot, equipped with solar panels, is off since November 15 due to insufficient sunlight to allow it to regain energy.
