Apple would provide for iPhone “completely new” in 2017 – 01net.com

While Apple has updated its smartphone entry level in fine style by introducing the iPhone OS, the eyes of some analysts are already paying off, beyond the introduction of iPhone 7 is expected for the month of September.

Known to have been right several times with regard Apple’s plans, Ming-Chi Kuo has published a note in which it refines some of the predictions he had already issued.

From AMOLED and glass …

Thus, according to this document has been able to procure 9to5mac , the US giant refonderait completely its range of smartphones in 2017. This would begin with the adoption – one year ahead of the initial estimates – of AMOLED panels. A significant change would be interesting at a time when these screens are now cheaper to produce than their LCD counterparts and allowing especially the iPhone to hang up the cars with the competition …

Ming-Chi Kuo believes Apple also will choose between three materials for the manufacture of casings of future iPhone: glass, plastic or ceramic. A priori, the glass should prevail, as in the time of the iPhone 4, because plastic does not allow to achieve form factors as thin and light. Regarding ceramics, the analyst says it is not easy to precisely control its tolerance and resistance.

The glass therefore would make his comeback in the iPhone in 2017, facade and at the rear. But it would be this time curved, both to the screen for the rest of the housing. The edges are themselves made of metal. Ming-Chi Kuo takes pains to reassure those who think Apple will refill the design of the iPhone 4, stating that these smartphones introduce “a completely new form factor” with screen edges well thinner and “a much more comfortable to hold” .

Greater slab for iPhone Plus

Echoing a rumor, appeared in early March, Ming-Chi Kuo also predicted that Apple will introduce a new screen size. The Cupertino would work on an iPhone with a 5.8-inch AMOLED screen.

However, although the display area is larger, this phone would not be more cumbersome than the iPhone 6 Plus or 6s Plus. On the contrary, it could be a little smaller. Admittedly, these two generations of smartphones give much space to the periphery of the screen. Maybe a little too …

Anyway, Apple therefore propose two screen sizes, iPhone 4.7 inch and one 5.8-inch, replacing the model current 5.5 inches.

Loading wireless and enhanced biometrics

Finally, KGI Securities analyst seems confident that Apple will offer a wireless charging system for its smartphones in 2017, without however, to be more specific. There is thus no reference to rumors that want that Tim Cook teams are working on a wireless charging system for “long distance”. Other new functions, Ming-Chi Kuo expects Apple enriches biometric tools. A system of face recognition or iris could well make an appearance. All these predictions – mixed with what percentage of reliable information from Apple and Chinese factories? – Are obviously attractive because they point to a genuine overhaul of the iPhone. However they have a bitter aftertaste. They leave indeed fear that the iPhone 7 is finally a minor evolution of current models, which may be taken away from the jack …
