Goodbye Google Apps, welcome to the “G Suite” – 01net.com

there’s a change at Google. The giant of the Web has just announced the end of Google Apps, and the birth of G On. It is now under this name that one will find all the Web apps of Google. In the same movement, the giant of the Web brings together all the professional tools under the same banner : the Google Cloud. Details.

The application suite, Google was launched a decade ago to compete with the Microsoft office suite. It included from the start of the collaborative tools like Google Docs or Sheets, a tool storage (Google Drive) as well as management tools and communication tools (Gmail, Hangouts…).

But Google does not only rename its product, it also improves with more intelligent features for it to be better armed in the face of its competitor, Office 365. The creation of files in Documents, Sheets and Slides has been facilitated. The spreadsheets are now accepting questions in natural language in order to obtain a response number, or a calculation formula by using the function Explore. The latter is also present in Google Docs and allows you to find content relevant to what is written (an image, other documents, related items on the Web…).

Google Calendar has also been updated to facilitate the planning of meetings with a function Find a time and access to documents in Google Drive has been enhanced with Quick Access. The tool will analyze the activity of the user to propose him in the first documents he might need.

The tools G Suite are available from four euros per user per month. For this price, we can also have an e-mail in the name of his company, direct assistance, and 30 Gb of cloud storage per user.

A coherent set for all workers

The G Suite is itself a part of a new set named Google Cloud. Under this name umbrella you will find all the products for professional use : ” the Google Cloud Platform, collaboration applications and productivity (G), all of the tools and APIS, machine learning, API mapping for business along the Android phones and tablets as well as Chromebooks “.

The goal of these changes is to show that Google is open to all, including professionals, ” the self-employed to the largest global companies “, said Diane Greene, senior vice president in charge of Google Cloud computing on the blog of the company.

No, the change of the status of Icann is not going to break the Internet – 20minutes.fr

WEB Washington abandons this night its oversight role of the agency that manages the Web directory…

Figure: the fiber optic cables. – R. MEIGNEUX/AP/SIPA

This night, at 3: 00, there’s going to be something historical on the Internet. After almost 20 years of oversight by the u.s. government, the organization that manages the domain names of the Web, Icann, will become independent. And contrary to the rhetoric, fear mongering advanced by Donald Trump, the initiative is widely supported by the founding fathers of the Net.

It is going to what exactly ?

Except coup de theatre at the last minute, the us government will remove the small wheels. Icann (the Internet Corporation for Assigned Names and Numbers), will become an international organization, self-regulating, non-profit, that does not rely on Uncle Sam. While the system was initially overseen by a single man, Jonathan Pathel, Icann sees the light of day in California in 1998 at the initiative of Al Gore. In the Face of criticism of many countries, anxious to see a corporation under californian law and is supervised by the u.s. government to control a critical infrastructure of the Web, Washington promises to be, then cut the cord at the right time. It happened.

And Icann does what exactly ?

The agency oversees the system of IP addresses and domain names of the Internet. Translation, Icann manages the Web directory, which is the link between an address encrypted (192.0.32.7), used by the machines, and a letter www.icann.org ” that is easier to remember for humans. She therefore has a central power on the assignment of domain names “top-level” (.com,. net or. org, for example) and is coordinating with local actors, such as the Afnic for the. francs More recently, Icann has opened the system to the domain names and regional custom.bzh,. paris,. bank etc), charged 185.000 dollars per application.

Why Ted Cruz and Donald Trump crying wolf ?

Because they do not want the United States to lose their control over Icann and the Internet. However, supporters of less government interference, the two republicans claim, in substance, that there is a risk that Icann falls under the umbrella of the UN, and that no american surveillance, ” countries such as Russia, China or Iran will be capable of censoring the Internet “. They are all wrong. First, it is a privatisation of Icann, and the UN will have no control over. Most importantly, the agency has no power over the content or the censorship of the Internet. This is the responsibility of each country, and China or Iran are abusing their power for a long time.

And the concerns about the excesses of the private sector ?

In march, the secretary of State Digital, Axelle Lemaire, was worried about the change, will ” have the consequence of marginalizing the States in the decision-making process “, for the benefit of private companies. Understand the giants of the Silicon Valley. In practice, the control of Washington was already symbolic. Importantly, Icann already composed of representatives of governments, business and civil society, including engineers.

What say the fathers of the Internet ?

They were in favour of change. The british inventor of the World Wide Web, Tim Berners-Lee, believes that Icann ” is a critical part of a consensus that ensures the stability of the Internet.” Milton Mueller, a figure of reference on the Internet governance, warns of the risks to block this development : “This would strengthen the models of national management favoured by the Member governments. “And while more than 3 billion people now have access to the Internet, the network has more need than ever of a global supervision.

Rosetta around Tchouri : she taught us so much ! – Europe1

The Rosetta mission around the comet 67P/Tchourioumov-Guérassimenko is nearing its end. After almost two years of good and loyal services, the probe Station spatiale européenne (ESA) is going to crash Friday on “Tchouri”. Now too far from the Sun to operate the solar panels, it cannot in fact continue its work of analysis. But if the sending of the robot Philae has ended in failure, the data harvesting by Rosetta on the other hand has been very good. Europe 1 makes the balance on this exceptional mission, which revolutionized our knowledge of comets, but also on the emergence of life in the Universe.

sand and ice. the First major contribution of the Rosetta mission, launched in 2004, it has challenged what scientists had assumed about the comets. Suspected to just be balls of dirty ice, now, through the exploration of Tchouri, “one does not think any of it”, writes Alain Cirou, consultant area of Europe 1 and editor-in-chief of the magazine Sky and Space. The comet to be explored by the european probe is in fact rather “a pack of icy sand”. “This is very very original, is that it is a conglomerate of tiny grains, more black than coal, while being very lightweight because there is water ice trapped by these same grains,” explains the specialist.

Two key elements for life. As Tchouri has melted as it approached the Sun, Rosetta, thanks to its ten onboard instruments has been able to photograph and analyse the fruit of its oil spills. Gas and geysers have some surprises for scientists. Two of the molecules discovered are the same of the key elements for the emergence of life : glycine, an amino acid, and phosphorus, a key element of the DNA. For Alain Cirou, these findings are of the comet “a precious object”. But for what reason ? “We know that comets are born in the periphery of the cloud protosolaire (the origin of the formation of the solar system, ed)”, but the novelty provided by the Rosetta mission, is that “these comets are carriers of a hardware primitive”, a kind of “messengers of the cosmos bearers of a complex chemistry”, explains Alain Cirou.

The cosmos, unsuspected resources. what is it that these discoveries are changing for us, Earthlings ? Not much since the scenario of the origin of life on Earth is not modified : comets and asteroids have bombarded the Earth in its infancy, bringing all the ingredients for that living organisms developed in the oceans. “This is like a cooking recipe,” says Alain Cirou. “On the one hand, the flour, eggs, oil… this that brought the comets. And the cook, represented by the Earth, has led to the preparation of the cake : the life”. But the Rosetta mission has confirmed that, “the cosmos is manufactured naturally these ingredients there are more than 5 billion years” when comets have appeared. A revolution, considers the expert. Because if the cosmos knows how to make alone as a great of the useful material to life, it is enough to hope that life exists elsewhere, on another planet.

And then ? In addition to masses of data collected by Rosetta as it remains to analyze, the scientists expect much of the mission Osirix-Rex launched on September 9 by the Nasa. This sensor must reach by August 2018 the comet Bennu, which revolves around the sun in 1.2 years. After doing an analysis substantially similar to that of Rosetta with Tchouri, it will have to be closer to Bennu to collect samples. Planned return to Earth in 2023 with the precious cargo. “It’s a permanent quest”, underlines Alain Cirou. And also a way to catch what the robot Philae, dropped on Tchouri by Rosetta in November 2015, has not been able to do. Having landed in an area too little sun to operate the solar panels, it has not been able to dig as planned the sub-soil of the comet. Not really a failure in the light of the success of stunning the mission as a whole. Of what to encourage the ESA to replace the cover ? “She will decide that at the end of the year if it starts or not in a mission to an asteroid,” says the specialist.

Rosetta : a crash on a comet – The World

World | | By

Finish in beauty. This is the purpose of the last phase of the space mission Rosetta of the european space Agency (ESA). This sensor must be crushed, Friday, September 30 to 13: 30, on the comet 67P/Tchourioumov-Guerassimenko for, during the ten-hour free-fall, save of ultimate properties of the body dark and cold that she’s looking for more than two years.

The Europeans are the first to fly over as long a comet, including in its path the closest to the Sun during the deployment of the famous glowing tail. They are also the first to be laid, when on November 12, 2014 the probe Rosetta has released Philae, a module packed with sensors, to the surface of the ” Tchouri “.

” We made it for the science ! “, has launched Matt Taylor, the scientific leader of the mission, Thursday, September 29, at Darmstadt, in the operational centre of the ESA. It is that comets are made of the material of the oldest in the solar system, old about 4.6 billion years ago. They tell, therefore, how the planets were able to form and evolve. They could even say how the life appeared on Earth. Has condition make them talk… That is the purpose of Rosetta, whose name alludes to the Rosetta stone which helped decipher the egyptian hieroglyphs.

Eye sad, eye happy

The harvest of data is already impressive, after dozens of orbits of the probe from a few km altitude to several hundred, and two and a half days of operation of Philae on the surface.

” I have a sad eyes and a look happy “, is a testament of Kathrin Altwegg, head of the instrument Rosina at the university of Bern, which has detected some sixty different gas emitted by the comet. The sad eyes is for the stoppage of operations. The eye happy, for all that it remains to be discovered. the ” We have analyzed that 5 % of the data “, confirms Andre Bieler, experience, Rosina.

already, the portrait that emerges of this comet is much different than expected. The researchers were looking for a body in the shape of a potato, they have had a form of “duck” with head, neck and body. They saw the comets as balls of ice cream sales, so here they are with the opposite, a very dark containing ice. What’s more, 75% made up of empty space.

questions remain

The sheer cliffs 200 metres high, well wide and deep up to 100 metres, isolated blocks of 50 meters in diameter, regions, fractured or, on the contrary, smooth with kinds of dunes, emerged… Of the jets of gas and dust in powerful and close flashed in front of the cameras. Unknown molecules up around a comet have been identified : oxygen, argon, propane, glycine…

above all, the organic matter that it contains, fascinates. the ” comets do not contain life, but they were able to begin the process that made it possible “, explained Kathrin Altwegg in Darmstadt. The instruments have indeed spotted, without identifying them, plethoras of macromolecules based on carbon, oxygen, hydrogen and nitrogen, which could serve as a brick to the biochemistry.

many questions remain, such as the location of the formation of these comets, or the way in which small dust of a few micrometers are become blocks of 4 kilometers.

The last dive will bring its batch of images and information about the speed of ejection of the dust, the magnetic field, the gravity… ” May be will we find new animals, hopes to Kathrin Altwegg, thereby designating the chemical molecules not yet detected. the ” Without a doubt, new questions will come ! “, writes Matt Taylor.

The first images should be released in the morning and continued right up until the final crash.

Rosetta en route to crashing into the comet Tchouri – The Parisian

Alea jacta est, the die is cast! The european probe Rosetta was launched on Thursday night its slow descent suicidal to the comet Tchouri on which it is to crash Friday in mid-day.
A tweet from the european space Agency (ESA) has confirmed that the probe was placed, at the expected time, on a path leading to a collision with Tchouri. “Next stop: 67P!”, wrote the ESA on Twitter.
This end spectacular will put a final end to an odyssey space history over twelve years of age, crowned by nearly 26 months of companionship fruitful with the comet 67P.
The probe will use his last strength to try to accumulate the most scientific data possible during these last hours.
“We’re very excited,” says Matt Taylor, the scientist responsible for the Rosetta mission, who was interviewed by AFP at the european Centre of space operations (ESOC) in Darmstadt (Germany).
“During the final descent, we will find ourselves in a region which we have never sampled samples”, he added.
most of The instruments of the probe will be switched on during the last hours. Rosetta will take images very close to home, “sniffera” the gas, measure the temperature of Tchouri and its severity.
The Rosetta mission, which was decided in 1993 by the european space Agency, aims to better understand the formation of the solar system. The comets that have appeared 4.5 billion years ago, are part of the objects of the most primitive of this system.
Tchouri The mission, which has cost 1.4 billion euros, has yielded a rich harvest of data that will give grist to the scientists for several years.
It has been marked by the vicissitudes of the robot-laboratory Philae that made a historic first by asking for the first time on a comet on 12 November 2014. Silent since July 2015, it has been located at the beginning of September by the probe.
With now more than 7 billion kilometres, the Rosetta, launched in 2004, escorting since August 2014, the comet Tchourioumov-Guérassimenko. But it is away now more and more of the Sun.
Equipped with large solar panels, the probe begins to run out of power. The ESA has therefore decided to put an end to the adventure while she still controls the probe.
– ‘well’ deep -
The drama plays out to more than 720 million kilometers from the Earth.
Thursday evening, around 20: 50 GMT (22: 50 Paris time), while the probe was located 19 kilometres from Tchouri, Rosetta has turned on its engines for three minutes to place on a path leading directly into collision with the comet.
The confirmation has been received by the Earth in forty minutes after.
The descent of the probe should last for 14 hours.
On the end, its speed should reach 90 centimeters per second (3.2 km/hour), “is the speed of a walking human”, note Sylvain Lodiot, head of flight operations of Rosetta at ESOC.
Rosetta was not designed to land. But the engineers have done everything that “the impact controlled” of the probe on the comet, expected on Friday at around 10.40 AM GMT (12.40 PM Paris time), to be the less harsh possible.
You will then need to 40 minutes for the Land to be informed. The ESOC is therefore expected to have the confirmation of the impact to 11: 20 AM GMT (13: 20 Paris time), at more or less 20 minutes.
The probe has been programmed to turn it off as soon as it comes into contact with the surface of the nucleus cometary.
Rosetta has landed on a box on the head of the comet that has “wells”, kinds of dimples, circular, broad and deep, from which escape sometimes jets of gas and dust.
“We hope to see on the sides of these wells are structures that could be traced back to the period during which the comet formed, and that would give us indications on the primordial evolution of the solar system”, said to AFP Jean-Pierre Bibring, scientific officer in charge of Philae.

Five giants of the high tech combine to define and frame the artificial intelligence – 01net.com

The Partnership on Artificial Intelligence to Benefit People and Society – a partnership that artificial intelligence benefits to people and society. The appellation is longer, a bit bombastic, and witness as much to future issues as a present-day context.

This partnership brings together five american giants : Amazon, Facebook, Google, IBM and Microsoft. Five titans at the head of hundreds of data centers, five players accumulating every day billions of data, information which are at the heart of the revolution of artificial intelligence. However, the neural networks and the deep learning are based on these sets, enormous data : it is in this cluster of 0′s and 1′s that we produce that artificial intelligence draws its utility, its strength and what it takes to draw the contours of its future.

Research and education

A future that could be worrying and that implies that right now the great actors of the research in artificial intelligence come together and agree to avoid the excesses that science fiction promises us for decades.

This partnership on the AI has as the objective to conduct research to establish and promote good practices. It is in this case a bit of the continuation of the committees of council for the ethics of artificial intelligence that has created Microsoft, or that Google has put in place after the acquisition of Deepmind in 2014.

In any case, this means that potentially the biggest names in the artificial intelligence (Yann LeCun for Facebook, Mustafa Suleyman for Deepmind, Greg S. Corrado for Google, Francesca Rossi for IBM, Ralf Herbrich for Amazon and Eric Horovitz for Microsoft) will meet regularly to discuss their progress in the matter. They will also discuss ethics, privacy, transparency, information exchange and collaboration between human and artificial intelligence.

A broad and even nebulous, which may seem far wrong. Because the manifestations of artificial intelligence are already present in our daily lives, our personal digital assistants to these bots speech found on Facebook or even in Google Allo. This partnership is not without reminding us, in part, from other initiatives, such as the one initiated by Elon Musk or the Future of Life Institute.

opening to other actors

also, the Partnership we HAVE, which has yet to appoint its committee of management and may be open to other similar projects, such as the Association for the Advancement of Artificial Intelligence, or the research group at the Allen Institute for Artificial Intelligence, founded by Paul Allen, co-founder of Microsoft.

now is The time more than ever to the collaboration. Moreover, four of these five giants – the only thing Amazon is missing – are part of the Open Compute Project, intended to share open-source designs of it infrastructures, including systems of artificial intelligence.

This could be the answer to a fear of confinement, fear to see these giants close in on themselves. However, one cannot help noticing that there has for the moment no players in the public, representing a state or States, or universities (even if some of the founding members are academics).

civil society must take up these issues

It is true that the progress in the field of artificial intelligence are in the hands of private companies and that the economic issues related are also. Therefore, it is not surprising that this partnership also aims to explain and provide reassurance to the public in the face of the mysterious AI. But it is also worrisome to see huge companies unite as a majority of the public was not yet aware of the impact of this revolution.

To defend our interests and our freedoms, to maintain a power over our daily lives, and the tools at our disposal, it is not necessary to limit ourselves to partnerships between giants. We need to show and demonstrate we also… of intelligence.

Snapchat launches sunglasses connected to make videos – Science and Future

CONNECTED. Snapchat, the messaging service in the us – become Snap Inc for the past few days – has unveiled the Spectacles or Specs, sunglasses connected. As the Google Glass, they are equipped with a mini-camera embedded in the frame. But the comparison stops there. The Specs look like sunglasses classic, with a shape and three colors trendy, when the Google Glass seemed to have been designed by an orthopedic surgeon. They only cost a 130 dollars compared to 1500 for the "prostheses" of Google. Finally, they have only a single function, simple and effective : make short videos (up to 30 seconds) to post on Snapchat.

The clip, directly sent on Snapchat

For this, nothing more simple. Simply press a button located on the top of the left branch to trigger recording of a video of 10 seconds (up to 30 seconds by pressing twice). A further press stops the recording.

The clip is sent on Snapchat by the smartphone which the glasses are connected by wifi or Bluetooth. On the app, the video appears in a new circular format but resumes with a look full-screen classic when it is viewed on other media, such as YouTube.

VISION. The optics of the camera has an angle of 115°, large enough to reproduce approximately human vision. To avoid nasty surprises and in particular the videos stolen, a small light illuminates on the upper left edge of the frame, to indicate that a recording is in progress. The glasses stand in a case that not only protects, but also recharge automatically, probably by induction. The case therefore functions as an external battery that should be recharged regularly.

The Shows should be available this fall. Snap does definitely not revolutionize the world with his sunglasses connected, but with a reasonable price, easy to use and look nice they should carve out a nice success on the occasion of the Christmas festivities. On the condition that it be beautiful…

A chinese consumer says that her Samsung Galaxy 7 has caught fire, damaging his computer. – Today/CNN Money

The situation seems to always be explosive for Samsung and its customers. After a bad buzz planet to the Korean manufacturer, when multiple users of the Galaxy Note 7 have seen the battery of the smartphone exploding, Samsung responded quickly by asking its customers to bring in 2.5 million copies of its ” phablet “.

But, while the asian giant is trying to limit the long-term damage of this crisis which could cost him $ 3 billion, further evidence of consumers from China will sow the seeds of disorder.

According to Bloomberg, a chinese consumer states that the battery of Galaxy Note 7, bought last Saturday on an e-commerce site, would have set fire to the unit, damaging it at the same time his laptop. Man of 25 years, which would have been slightly injured fingers, sent to several media photos of the device charred, the purchase receipt and the serial number of the device, as well as videos showing the Note 7 smoking and melting.

Samsung would have suggested the customer to pay off his phone, and compensate for his or her computer on the condition that he make the device. It is said to have refused, fearing that the company does not reveal the cause of the incident. In a press release, Samsung has assured that it ” is in contact with the client and conduct a thorough examination of the device in question when we have received “.

In all, four users have reported devices charred in China, while sales have not been suspended in the country, Samsung is claiming to appeal to a different provider for the batteries of the devices sold on the chinese market. The builder has rejected both of these complaints, stating after an investigation that the malfunction had been caused by ” external heat source “. But Samsung is exposed now to a new bad buzz came from China, where consumers don’t feel they have been treated as well as the rest of the world.

BlackBerry stops the manufacturing of smartphones – Begeek.fr

BlackBerry, formerly a leader in the mobile market, has decided to stop the production of terminals, to entrust it to the sub-contractor PT Tiphone Mobile Indonesia, which operates in the field of telecom indonesian. The canadian manufacturer, famous for its devices with a physical keyboard and a scroll wheel in the middle, now occupies less than 1% of the market share.

BlackBerry will not manufacture more smartphones

For several years the mobile division of BlackBerry vivote but the canadian company, a pioneer in the field of smartphones, has finally decided to stop the fees, it will no longer manufacture devices. The canadian manufacturer has signed an agreement with PT Tiphone Mobile, an indonesian company, with which he will create a joint venture, called PT BB MerahPutih. It is she that will now license the BlackBerry in Indonesia.

According to the firm Gartner, BlackBerry would only be 0.1% of the market share in the field. For several years the company has continued to lose customers, its products being overtaken by those offering a touch screen. In the second quarter of 2016, the canadian firm had losses in the amount of $ 372 million, while last year at the same period, it recorded a gain of $ 52 million. “The company plans to put an end to all the hardware development in-house and will outsource this task to partners “, was announced, John Chen, BlackBerry CEO, in a press release.

BlackBerry will not manufacture more smartphones : return to a legendary brand – 01net.com

This is the end of an adventure for several decades. John Chen, CEO of BlackBerry, has announced that his company was going to stop designing smartphones, and that he would entrust this task to a sub-contractor indonesia, PT Tiphone Mobile Indonesia, with which it will create a joint venture, PT BB Merah Putih.

BlackBerry, formerly RIM-Research In Motion, was founded in Canada in 1984 by Jim Balsillie and Mike Lazaridis. In 1996, the brand sells its first product, the RIM 900 Inter@ctive pager, a device used to send and receive written messages, but also access to their e-mails passing through servers RIM, which required a little bit of bandwidth.

The first “smartphone” with the name of BlackBerry is released in 2001. It worked under the operating system BlackBerry OS, which claimed a maximum security. But the same year, RIM should face prosecution for patent infringement. The case will be solved few years later by an agreement with the american authorities. In parallel, the devices of the canadian brand have become objects of fetishes frameworks connected and politicians… including Barack Obama.

In 2007, then released the first iPhone, the BlackBerry has over ten million users and is changing its image. Device for the ” pros “, the BlackBerry becomes a device to fashion thanks to her stint in the television series Gossip Girl. Two years later, 50 million users is achieved. However, financial worries, accumulate to the firm, overwhelmed by the success of smartphones that are all about the touch.

In 2011, the iPhone supplanted the BlackBerry in the heart of the American and RIM announced the dismissal of 11% of its workforce. At the end of the year, several days of outage affecting millions of users around the world. The action tumbles down leading to the departure of the co-founders of the brand. The following year, the problems are increasing in spite of a number of users on the rise.

In January 2013, the BlackBerry Z10, which is supposed to save RIM group, is launched. But it was a commercial failure. Pioneer, RIM, which took in passing the name of the BlackBerry – gliding in the 4e rank of the OS installed in smartphones, largely supplanted by Android and iOS. At the end of 2013, the sales never-ending fall… John Chen became CEO of the brand. Then arrived the Passport, and then the Android devices that were able to restart the machine. In vain.

Galaxy S8 : release date, price and technical data sheet – Phonandroid

The Galaxy S8 will be presented only at the beginning of next year but it is already a lot of talk. While the Galaxy S7 and S7 the Edge had allowed Samsung to increase its profits in the first half of the year, the battery issues the Galaxy Note 7 will have been expensive and have not failed to tarnish his image. Expectations are very high with this new model. Here’s everything we know about it.

Note that it is for the moment only rumors that will be confirmed or not. This folder will be updated regularly.

A Galaxy S8 curved and this will be all ?

In the same way as it has done with its Galaxy Note 7, Samsung could use the Galaxy S8 only in version curved. Last August, the Galaxy S7 Edge is presented as the best-selling smartphone in the world in 2016, the evidence that Samsung has managed to impose this new form factor that begins to invite in the competition. Note that the Korean would offer two versions of its flagship smartphone, a 5.1-inch and the other 5.5 inches.

A 4K display Organic Blue for the virtual-reality

the evidence now suggests that the Galaxy S8 will be the first Samsung smartphone with a 4K display. The prospect of a definition of 3840 x 2160 pixels on a screen of 5.1 or 5.5-inch may seem completely crazy, however, the Korean is obviously decided to improve the virtual reality experience offered on its smartphones.

Note that this screen would be based on the technology of Bio-Blue, which allows you to view only 6% of blue light, compared with 32% for plates AMOLED classics. A technology designed to protect the user’s eyes which are very close to the smartphone when the latter is placed in a VR helmet.

An Exynos processor 8895 high-powered

Each new generation of smartphone is coming with a heap of power and the Galaxy S8 should not be an exception to the rule as it would be with a processor Exynos 8895. Recently tested on the benchmark tool, it gets a score of 7019 and 2301 points on testing multi core and single core Geekbench with a clock frequency of 3 Ghz, but it would appear that he may go up to 4 Ghz, therefore, it is likely to offer even more impressive results at full power.

Note that this new processor would display a fine engraving of 10 nms which should allow him to reach the heights in terms of power and autonomy. It would be coupled to the last GPU Mali-G71 ARM that is optimized for 4K and virtual reality, which offers 1.8 times the power of the graphics chip-GPU Mali-T880 MP12 of the Galaxy S7 and supports the API, Vulkan and the standards OpenGL ES 3.2, GPU Compute, and Android RenderScript.

A dual photo sensor to stay in the loop

If this year, the Korean manufacturer has preferred to focus on the quality with a photo sensor Dual-Pixel, 12 megapixel offering large photosites rather than follow the trend of the double photo sensors, the next year, it should reconcile the two. The Galaxy S8 would be expected with a dual camera, 12 + 13-megapixel camera. The sensor 12 MP would be designed by Samsung and the sensor 13 MP by Sony, two big names of the photo on mobile.

With a double sensor, it will be of course possible to adjust the depth-of-field, to produce stunning bokeh and capture great night photos. In addition, after proposing an aperture of f/1.9 on the S6 and f/1.7 on the S7, Samsung could still improve that part, and combined with a dual sensor camera could give spectacular results.

On the front, there should be a front-facing camera of 8 megapixels, not to mention the scanner from iris that Samsung has obviously decided to impose on all its future high-end appliances.

autonomy at the top

With a 4K display, Samsung has rather to propose an autonomy worthy of the name, at the risk to undergo numerous reviews from its customers. However, the first noises of the corridor suggests that the optimizations will be many. Engraved by 10 nanometers, the Exynos processor 8895 expected to the interior of the S8 is expected to propose a consumption controlled energy, which should not exceed 5 Watts. In addition, a recent leak suggests the possibility that this team of battery of 4200 mAh, well above the current average.

Price and release date

If Samsung follows its usual timetable, we should expect to see the arrival of its Galaxy S8 on the eve of the MWC 2017 on the 26th of February next. Some analysts agree, however, on the fact that he could make his arrival earlier than planned so as to make them forget about the recall’s massive Galaxy Note 7 related to its battery problems.

It still remains to be proved. In addition, even in the event of early exit, it is hard to imagine Samsung will pass on the benefits of the annual show. In contrast, the Korean could effectively advance its commercialization so as to limit the impact of the reminder in the Note 7 of its quarterly sales.

as For the price, a recent leak mentions a tariff of $ 850. Of course, it is still too early to say but with all the expected improvements, it is not impossible that Samsung reviews the price of its flagship to the increase.

BlackBerry leaves its smartphones to other – Clubic

BlackBerry has attempted to impose its smartphones targeting the professionals and the security, but it will eventually let go of the development, for the benefit of the software, its new locomotive.

BlackBerry moves away a little more of the smartphones, which have made the success of the canadian brand in 2008. In January already, the ex-RIM had sent a strong signal coming out the Priv, its first Android smartphone, turning back to his operating system home. Of good invoice, it was not enough to revive the brand. Today, she announced forgo the construction of new smartphones.

” The company plans to put an end to all the internal development of equipment and assign it to partners “, ” says John Chen, CEO of the company, in the press release reporting financial results for the second fiscal quarter. It is enough just to look at a balance sheet to understand that the mobile business is a real drag to the foot, unlike software, which offer a breath of fresh air.

To BlackBerry white label

On the first half of the year, BlackBerry has made a switch between software and hardware. The first have reached $ 156 million of revenue in the second quarter, compared to 105 million for the latter. While the software to confirm their status as a profit center, with a net profit of 28 million, the latter continue to be a source of losses, to the tune of $ 8 million.

With the DTEK50 and here, the DTEK60, BlackBerry relies on the chinese manufacturer TCL and the design of the Alcatel Idol 4 and 4 Pro – Credit : BlackBerry.

” We are starting to reach an inflection point in our strategy, “, ” says John Chen, who is proud of ” financial foundation solid “. With a global turnover declining by 31% year on year, to $ 334 million, and a net loss of 372 million, while the company earned 51 million a year earlier, the balance sheet of the company will have to wait for the disengagement of smartphones to hope to be ” solid “.

John Chen, ensures that ” the pivot to the software is in the process of taking the hands “. It is true that the momentum is strong : in a year, the revenue of this branch has doubled, driven by the demand from companies for its security solutions. The good news is that the software makes the margins are juicy – they have reached ” a level history “ – unlike smartphones, where no actor does not earn money, except Apple.

IMAGES. With Space X, Elon Musk wants to colonize Mars as soon as 2024 – The Express

A dream or a reality close to? The billionaire visionary Elon Musk, founder of SpaceX, unveiled Tuesday night an ambitious plan to establish a “city” on Mars sending humans from 2024. The transport would be aboard large vessels reusable, equipped with cabins, regular refueling in orbit, at a price of $ 100,000 per person. His bill also provides for a possible return to the Earth, on condition of building a plant by transforming the methane in the red planet.

As a giant globe representing the planet referred to, during the 67th international Congress of astronautics in Guadalajara, Mexico, Elon Musk has notably released this video a futuristic cgi summarizing his project to send men and women on Mars.

“Civilization, self-sufficient on Mars”

starting in 2018, SpaceX needs to send a capsule Dragon (designed for flight, ready to move in only) no crew on the fourth planet of the solar system.

beyond the technological feat that it still has to be done, Elon Musk has detailed his approach of a critical point for the project: money. The billionaire acknowledged that its plan a “civilization self-sufficient on Mars” requires a “huge public-private partnership”, but has not announced any alliance with the space agencies of government. Seats aboard the first flight will be expensive, but the goal is to “make it affordable to almost all those who want to go there”, by reducing gradually the price of the ticket from 200 000 $ to 100 000$ .

Two shots of the same launcher, refueling in orbit

Prior to SpaceX, Nasa has already announced its own plans to send men into the decade of 2030.

Blue Origin, founded by the ceo of Amazon, Jeff Bezos, is also building a huge rocket called New Glenn, indicating, however, that the goal of reaching Mars could take several decades.

The project of Elon Musk expects to exit the earth’s atmosphere and reach the red planet in a rocket split into three parts. The first is the launcher, or the booster gigantic 77.5 m high, able to return to Earth intact, with as payload two possibilities: first, the huge transport ship, with up to 100 passengers, then a mothership or tanking also intended to return to the earth’s surface. SpaceX is aiming to achieve 1000 launches with a single booster and a hundred re-use of tanker.

Two successive shots for a single transportation: the rocket would be joined in orbit around our planet by the reservoir to be replenished with fuel, before it started its trip of 80 days to Mars. His arrival would begin with a delicate aerobraking in the thin martian atmosphere before landing with its main reactor.

once depleted, the ship in the direction of March has deployed its solar panels.

The plan is so ambitious that experts are questioning. “It is unlikely that [Musk] is capable of bringing humans to Mars in 2025″, a year after their departure from Earth, estimated, for example, John Logsdon, the former director of the Institute of space policy from the George Washington University.

The expert reminds that the billionaire has already been guilty of excessive optimism in the past regarding its launchers, and points to the problem of the cost: “tens of billions of dollars and SpaceX did not have this money.”

first “exploratory missions” risky

Visionary or megalomaniac, the contractor of 45 years of south african origin and has in the meantime referred to a spacecraft equipped with a restaurant, cabins, games adapted to the absence of gravity, and films. “It has to be fun and exciting, it is not necessary that it is uncomfortable and annoying,” said the one at the origin of the cars Tesla electric, or transportation projects futuristic Hyperloop.

And back on Earth? Once on Mars, humans should build a plant producing fuel from the resources of methane available, which might enable such a trip in the other direction.

But the message of the first “exploratory missions” before “the building of a city” is clear: “the risk of death will be exalted.” The huge explosion of their latest launcher, at the beginning of September, seems to confirm this risk.

Xiaomi Mi5s : the rival chinese iPhone 7 to 300 euros – Clubic

Xiaomi held this Tuesday in Beijing, a launch event, at which it presented its new phones, as usual, a few weeks after the launch of the new iPhone.

the One that sometimes presents itself as the Apple of china has unveiled the Mi5s and its variant, large-format Mi5s More.

Xiaomi has always been compared to Apple and, as such, is very much inspired from the american manufacturer. But if there are many aesthetic codes of the iPhone, until on the interface, the new Mi5s and Mi5s More differentiate more than usual.

Xiaomi Mi5s : fingerprint sensor ultrasonic

On a technical level, the Mi5s is an evolution of the Mi5. For a start, it passes from the Snapdragon 820, at 821, for performance increase of 10 % according to Qualcomm, primarily through increases in frequency. The chip includes two cores Kryo to 2.4 GHz and the other two at 2 GHz. It is coupled with 3 Gb of ram and 64 Gb of internal memory on the first model, or, respectively, 6 Gb, and 128 Gb for the second.

On the plan, audio-visual, the terminal has a large sensor, Sony 1/2,3 inch and 12-million pixels (or photocells of 1.55 µm), competing, according to Xiaomi, with the camera of iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7. It is a 4 million pixel cell of 2 µm. The photos are displayed by a screen IPS of 5.15 inches and 1920 x 1080 pixels delivering a high contrast ratio of 1500:1 and maximum brightness is also a high 600 cd/m2.

This screen overlooks a fingerprint sensor ultrasonic Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID, more reliable than a CMOS sensor, conventional, and running with sweat in the fingers.

The Mi5s, finally, is at the forefront in terms of connectivity. It features the 4G LTE-Advanced up to 450 Mb/s, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac dual-band MU-MIMO or a port the USB Type-C, ensuring rapid charging of its battery of 3200 mAh via the solution Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 (unfortunately not via the new USB Power Delivery, just as effective and standard). And it keeps an output 3.5 mm !

Xiaomi Mi5s Plus : dual-sensor

More than a larger version of the Mi5s, the Mi5s More especially the successor of the latest Mi Note. And both series are still not perfectly harmonized. The two models share most of their data sheet, but the drawing remains quite different. The largest is just as well a fingerprint sensor conventional at the back.
This last is surmounted by a pair of sensors Sony 13 million pixels, which function as on the Huawei P9 stamped Leica. That is to say that one of the sensors is devoid of a Bayer matrix of RGB and therefore it is monochrome, but it is, in return, is extremely detailed. The electronics automatically combines the best of both.

Finally, the display measures 5.7-inch diagonally and lodge, as emphasized by the manufacturer, in a shell that is slightly smaller than an iPhone 7 Plus is only 5.5 inches.

The Xiaomi Mi5s will soon be marketed in China for 2000 and 2300 yuan in versions 64 and 128 Gb, the equivalent of 270 and 310 euros. The Mi5s More will be sold 2300 and 2600 yuan, 270 and 350 euros. They are not yet expected in France, but some of the importers will not fail to bring them to market.

Mavic Pro : DJI meets GoPro with a new drone compact and super smart – 01net.com

the leader of The drone public could not remain without a response to the announcement of the GoPro and its Karma. Here are the Mavic Pro, signed DJI and the design of which is not dissimilar to that of its competitor. For fans of Top Gun, his name resonates as a tribute to Maverick, the character played by Tom Cruise.

As the Karma, the Mavic Pro is a quadcopter which it is possible to fold the arm supporting the propellers, in order to seriously reduce its space during transportation. The dimensions of the drone folded out, are not communicated, but the photo below shows the compact size of the thing.

It may be even more compact than the Karma. As you can see in the photo below with the model of GoPro, the arms fold to the back, that lengthens and increases the volume necessary for storage.

the trend to the reduction in size and weight, which is here of 743 grams, is therefore excellent news for the users who are suffering from having to walk around with a big bag. Better yet, it is not necessary to disassemble the propeller to store the Mavic Pro.

A drone powerful…

That this drone is small and easy to carry and is all the more appreciable as it would take away anything from his performance. According to DJI, the Mavic Pro could fly for 27 minutes, and would have a range of 7 km. These possibilities will have little interest in France as to the rules of use of the drone laid down by the DGCA require the pilot to view.

The Mavic Pro can be controlled from a smartphone, or if you’re not afraid to charge you a little, via the remote control long range radio. The experience should be much better with this last one : the responsiveness of the joysticks is otherwise better than that of the virtual sliders on the screen of a smartphone.

as much as it will be better to master the machine. DJI states that the Mavic Pro features a sport mode that allows it to reach a speed of 64.8 km/h. it is hoped that in this mode, the 27 minutes of battery life advertised will no longer be available. This is on a smartphone or with the remote control, DJI states that the return video is in Full HD.

… and a very smart

Like most of the drones, the Mavic Pro features of the navigation systems GPS and Glonass enabling it to stabilize, not to fly in the unauthorized areas, but also to create flight plans in placing dots on a map (waypoints). This feature called FlightAutonomy in DJI goes further. As the Phantom 4, the Mavic Pro integrates sensors and 24 processors, which allow him to follow a flight plan while avoiding obstacles.

A function that should be bluffing, but that limits the travelling speed to 36 km/h… all the same. A function TapFly , you can even launch the uav to a point of the map with a single tap on the touch screen.

The function “return to the starting point” is also known on other models. Again, DJI goes further with its ” precision landing “. During the take-off, in addition to GPS tracking, the camera takes a picture of the floor to ensure a landing, according to the manufacturer, to the nearest centimeter.
And functions, this Mavic Pro does not lack. Let us look at quickly the mode ActiveTrack that allows the drone to follow a topic – including if it is a cyclist – a person or a car. The mode Gesture uses the camera to place you in the center of the image and thus create ” dronies “. DJI has even created an app DJI GO to share their images via Facebook, Periscope or even YouTube.

4K Videos and RAW photos stabilized

Finally, you will have understood, the Mavic Pro comes with a 4K camera (30 frames per second) stabilized for superb videos from the air. And photos also. In fact, the manufacturer stated that, it is possible to recover the photos “gross” , are the RAW, shot by a sensor of 12 million pixels.

The DJI Mavic Pro will be available from mid-October. However, it is already possible to order on the website of DJI for 1199 euros. It should be noted that a pack Fly More containing a second battery, propellers further, a charging dock, a car charger and a shoulder bag will be available for 1 499 eur.
