Xiaomi held this Tuesday in Beijing, a launch event, at which it presented its new phones, as usual, a few weeks after the launch of the new iPhone.
the One that sometimes presents itself as the Apple of china has unveiled the Mi5s and its variant, large-format Mi5s More.
Xiaomi has always been compared to Apple and, as such, is very much inspired from the american manufacturer. But if there are many aesthetic codes of the iPhone, until on the interface, the new Mi5s and Mi5s More differentiate more than usual.
Xiaomi Mi5s : fingerprint sensor ultrasonic
On a technical level, the Mi5s is an evolution of the Mi5. For a start, it passes from the Snapdragon 820, at 821, for performance increase of 10 % according to Qualcomm, primarily through increases in frequency. The chip includes two cores Kryo to 2.4 GHz and the other two at 2 GHz. It is coupled with 3 Gb of ram and 64 Gb of internal memory on the first model, or, respectively, 6 Gb, and 128 Gb for the second.
On the plan, audio-visual, the terminal has a large sensor, Sony 1/2,3 inch and 12-million pixels (or photocells of 1.55 µm), competing, according to Xiaomi, with the camera of iPhone 7 and Galaxy S7. It is a 4 million pixel cell of 2 µm. The photos are displayed by a screen IPS of 5.15 inches and 1920 x 1080 pixels delivering a high contrast ratio of 1500:1 and maximum brightness is also a high 600 cd/m2.
This screen overlooks a fingerprint sensor ultrasonic Qualcomm Snapdragon Sense ID, more reliable than a CMOS sensor, conventional, and running with sweat in the fingers.
The Mi5s, finally, is at the forefront in terms of connectivity. It features the 4G LTE-Advanced up to 450 Mb/s, Wi-Fi 802.11 ac dual-band MU-MIMO or a port the USB Type-C, ensuring rapid charging of its battery of 3200 mAh via the solution Qualcomm Quick Charge 3.0 (unfortunately not via the new USB Power Delivery, just as effective and standard). And it keeps an output 3.5 mm !
Xiaomi Mi5s Plus : dual-sensor
More than a larger version of the Mi5s, the Mi5s More especially the successor of the latest Mi Note. And both series are still not perfectly harmonized. The two models share most of their data sheet, but the drawing remains quite different. The largest is just as well a fingerprint sensor conventional at the back.
This last is surmounted by a pair of sensors Sony 13 million pixels, which function as on the Huawei P9 stamped Leica. That is to say that one of the sensors is devoid of a Bayer matrix of RGB and therefore it is monochrome, but it is, in return, is extremely detailed. The electronics automatically combines the best of both.
Finally, the display measures 5.7-inch diagonally and lodge, as emphasized by the manufacturer, in a shell that is slightly smaller than an iPhone 7 Plus is only 5.5 inches.
The Xiaomi Mi5s will soon be marketed in China for 2000 and 2300 yuan in versions 64 and 128 Gb, the equivalent of 270 and 310 euros. The Mi5s More will be sold 2300 and 2600 yuan, 270 and 350 euros. They are not yet expected in France, but some of the importers will not fail to bring them to market.
