Apple and Samsung upset in China? – Le Figaro

China Mobile will reduce by nearly one-third dedicated budget to subsidize the purchase of smartphones by its customers, according to Les Echos . The envelope will increase from 34 billion yuan ($ 4.1 billion) to 21 billion yuan (2.5 billion euros). New trade policy that sounds like a real blow for both Apple and Samsung giants, whose prices may now be too high for Chinese consumers.

This should instead benefit local manufacturers at the forefront which Lenovo and Xiaomi, whose devices are sold much cheaper as Apple and Samsung. Behind this strategy hovers the shadow of Chinese authorities and the regulator is pressing major operators so that they reduce their marketing spend. One way to encourage local production and provide operators with acceptable profits, according to Les Echos .
