Marijuana: Microsoft has found a start-up plan – ITespresso.fr

Microsoft puts a foot in the business of marijuana . Rest assured, the Redmond company does not do anything illegal. It was even rather daring for a company of this size monitored by financial markets which dissect his every initiatives.

Microsoft has initiated a partnership with a Los Angeles startup based in named Kind around a tracking system of cultivation and sale of marijuana.

According to the New York Times, it will bring the software layer and the legal cloud service distribution of this product, under cover of tightly controlled regulation of public authorities.

It should go easy on the business in the United States. Twenty states have legalized its use for medical reasons. Four even allow a “recreational” (including Washington DC).

But federal consumption remains prohibited. Microsoft has he been influenced by its environment? In Seattle, where we find the headquarters of the firm headed by Satya Nadella, marijuana is available for sale in stores from mid-2014 and its use is tolerated in general.

What happens -t it in Los Angeles (where the Kind start-up)? Must be qualified: In California, the therapeutic use of cannabis is legal. For recreational purposes, possession of less than 28 grams is punishable by a fine (but a bigger amount is considered an offense).

The controlled liberalization of the business of marijuana in the US allows companies like Microsoft to open up new horizons. Others spend the same heading of the IPO as community marketplace MassRoots (and Nasdaq, please)
