On September 9, all eyes were on the new iPhone and the new iPad Pro. Yet the Apple keynote has indeed began with the presentation of news on the Watch, a few months after the introduction in April of the connected watch. New model of black steel case, Watch RED – in the tradition initiated by iPod, new bracelets, some signed by Hermès, the watch Apple will offer a nice little refresh.
But the heart of the change is software called WatchOS 2. Announced last June during the opening keynote of the WWDC, the new version of the operating system of the connected watch a major evolution. We had the opportunity to use it sometime before its launch officially. Between cosmetics novelties, practical adjustments and policy changes, WatchOS 2 has everything a step that could be likened to a fresh start. Here are our first impressions.
Give life to his Watch …

Other aesthetic innovations, which some users may be fond of, it is also possible to choose a photo or set of images, which will then be displayed in turn, to serve as the home screen Watch. One way to further customize his watch, which however implies having pretty pictures on hand …
We will go on the ability to send drawings in several colors to contacts who also possess a Watch. Know that our “Mr. Potato Head” are much more beautiful now … Finally, we would have liked to have a glimpse of what we reserve the developers with third complications, but it’s still a little early to tell. It will certainly expect the making available of official WatchOS 2.
Increased reactivity
And developers will be able to truly enter the arena with the new operating system from Apple watch. WatchOS 2 makes it possible for applications to run natively on the watch. So far only an extension of the application for iOS was present, which meant a heavy data transfer between iPhone and Watch and thus a lower reactivity.
With this v.2 WatchOS, the watch does not cut ties with the iPhone but frees partially. From what we observed, we manage to scrounge a few seconds to launch an application. The general response is, it is substantially improved, also without upsetting the use that was already enough fluid despite some loading time. Native applications may anyway give good results in some areas, such as sports or monitoring of physical activity. The Watch could gain credibility, although it still lacks some functions to compete with specialty watches.
Strengthen uses
With this new operating system, Apple also made sure to strengthen customs, giving more weight to his watch in our daily lives. An anecdotal example is the representative yet Fil time ( Time Travel , in English, which is more explicit). Facing the host dial is rotated “digital crown.” Then scroll minutes then the hours, the calendar complication then deals to display various appointments ahead of your day. We thought cry gadget, and finally surprised to use it regularly to check the time of the next meeting, the next appointment … We just regret not being able to go faster in time and not to move needles, for example, to jump suddenly within hours.

Delayed because of a bug, Watch OS 2 is now available. What we have seen over our decision in early hand however, is only the tip of the iceberg. The big change will come with native applications, which we had only a brief overview. If we gain in speed of execution, may also do we risk that the autonomy down a bit.
