The blacklist 2017 cars stolen – The Figaro

track record – Our fellow Auto Plus published this week its traditional ranking of the 50 cars stolen. In 2016, the electronic piracy has become the method n°1 of the thugs.

Auto Plus, in no. 1482 dated today, Friday 27th January, book an in-depth investigation on the theft of cars in France by 2016, as well as a list of the top 50 vehicles stolen. This ranking is based on statistics collected from 15 major insurers (park 20 million cars). After a significant increase in 2015, the number of auto thefts declined in 2016 (108.304 complaints, a minimum of 2.5 % year on year) in metropolitan France. “But nothing says that the decline will last. Because the electronic piracy, which became the method n° 1 of the thugs, does not flex, him. And some models, because of their high value and/or of their vulnerability, continue to attract thugs like magnets,” warns the newspaper.

Program a key “virgin” can apply under a minute

The Range Rover Evoque dethroned Smart Fortwo on the first step of the podium with 196 thefts per 10,000 vehicles insured (167 flights in 2015), compared to 162 for the micro-urban German manufactured in France (201 flights in 2015). The frequency of flights Evoque has increased by 72% from its first appearance in this ranking two years ago. This vehicle has a dimension of love that was always high and the second with a disconcerting ease: just program a blank key in less than a minute with an electronic box bought a few thousand euros on the Net to walk away with the star of the SUV’s Premium. And the device anti-piracy, developed by Land Rover has been… hacked.

Several Renault models are “permeable” to the intrusion electronic

The Smart Fortwo, if it comes down to a walk on the podium, still remains sought after for resale “at the cut”: its parts are very expensive to replace. And its protection against theft is poor. The BMW X6, another vehicle appreciated, always sits in third place with 159 flights (up from 166 in 2015). The fourth is occupied by the couple Range Rover and Range Rover Sport (156 flights), the fifth by the usual Renault Twingo 1 (115 flights), the first French of the classification, as easy to fly as riding a bike. The Clio 4 is close behind in sixth with 110 flights. His key cards are very – too – easy to hack: its system startup is very “permeable” to the intrusion of electronic devices. “A major fault that also affects the previous opus of the Clio, Captur, Mégane 2 and 3, Twingo 2, and the Laguna 3. Alas, so far, the solutions deployed by Renault have not delivered in the long term,” says the survey.

high-profile Arrival of the Mercedes GLA, which is appreciated in the East and in Africa

from the seventh place, it falls under the 100 flights for 10,000 vehicles. In this area, “orange” (between 50 and 99 flights), the most common models alongside the most chic, with an overrepresentation of BMW (5 cars), brand a victim of its success. The Citroën DS 5 (12) is always threatened, but a little less listed. The Peugeot 208 (#13) is a winning number for aces of piracy. The Mercedes GLA (21st) is a golden nugget often raflée to honor orders from abroad (countries of eastern Europe or Africa) or commit any other package. To get it, “the sharks are ready to resort to use extreme methods such as car-jacking or home-jacking”, notes Auto Plus. The Golf 7 (23rd) remains a sure value, just like the Renault Scénic 3 (34th), prized especially for its seats, off-price in nine.

Toyota, Honda: some vehicles are japanese little stolen

the “yellow” zone (less than 50 flights per 10,000 vehicles) is beginning to see better students. The BMW 2-Series, which comes in this ranking, is located at the 37th place. The Porsche Macan makes its entry in the 41st. The 49th and last place is occupied by the Audi A4, Q5 and TT, also new on this list, and the 50th and last position is held by the Peugeot 3008 (37 flights, downward trend).

In contrast, many vehicles are shunned by the thieves, either because they are poorly disseminated, better protected, less desirable, or simply be pampered by their owners. No doubt this is the case of the Porsche 911, which closes the march with only 7 flights for 10,000 vehicles. It is followed by a quartet from japan: Honda CR-V and Toyota Prius (10 flights), Suzuki Vitara and Toyota Rav4 (12 flights). Good performance for Dacia (15 flights for the Dokker, 28 for the Sandero).

The blocks flying is always an accessory to be effective against theft

For 108.304 flights reported in 2016, only 10 214 have been elucidated by the forces of the order of less than 10% of the cases. The theft of a car is especially committed in dense urban areas and mainly at night, in the street. Shields electronics are still unarmed, and it is through these “doors” that the thugs infiltrate and take control of our cars. “The flight? The constructors in the type”, says bluntly Peter Taylor, the editor-in-chief ofAuto Plus. For our part, if your vehicle is “at-risk”, we recommend purchasing a simple blocking wheel (a few tens of euros), which more than ever, is a good protection against the volume
