Apple fixes a security flaw on its Mac – TF1

Do not worry if your Mac is updated itself! Apple has issued emergency Monday an update of its computers running the latest Mac OS X (Mountain Lion, Mavericks and Yosemite). It must fix a new security flaw that would allow hackers to take remote control of your Macintosh.

For the first time, the update is performed automatically on computers. “The update is transparent. The restart is not even necessary,” Bill Evans said. This patch will secure NTP network protocol OS X operating system, explained the brand’s spokesperson at the apple. NTP is mainly used to synchronize the clocks of computer systems.

Automatic Update

Apple has, for now, identified no cases of Mac was the pirates target from this flaw released Friday by the US Department of Homeland Security and discovered by a security expert from Google. Dozens of other technology companies may be affected.

So far, security updates were reported to users who were free to install them or not. For two years, Apple computers have a feature that allows the manufacturer to install the updates directly. If the Cupertino company had not used this possibility so far, the importance of the threat led her to use it. But the user can still do it himself. The patch (2 MB) will install automatically after a certain period.
