Google wants to change the password on your phone – ZDNet France

Google has long been striving to remove the barriers between different fast access to data. And it may well have a new trick up its sleeve: instead of entering as usual a password from their PC, tablet or its other terminal, you could just use your phone to authenticate

The user of Reddit, Rohit Paul was invited to test functionality, which still requires some input from the user.

As noted by Android Police, once the phone Rohit Paul enlisted as an authentication device, it has been more than enter their Gmail address on their smartphone to connect to Google from their computer.

If the process does not appear to be as fast for all those whose password Google account many characters could benefit by reducing the time required to input authentication.

Of course, if you lose your phone or if you no longer wish to use this authentication mode, you can still sign in to your Google Account conventionally.

Google has not officially announced this new feature, the technical details of the access procedure remain unknown. The Mountain View company is however not alone in wanting to overcome the passwords and to develop alternative methods of authentication. This is for example the case of Microsoft Windows 10 through a function like Next Generation Credentials.
