Telepathy would be possible with the help of computers. This is at least what has been tried to make researchers at the University of Barcelona. According to results published in the scientific journal PLOS ONE, they would have succeeded in transferring simple phrases like “hello”, thousands of miles between two individuals.
The principle is based on more or less the same as that between two computers that would use a modem. In summary, when a person first thinks of a word, the brain waves generated when the subject thinks are converted by a computer into binary code.
Posted by internet, this binary code is then converted into a bright flash from another computer that is interpreted by a second person. So there is no possibility that the second “subject” can see or hear the words transmitted. So far the researchers, the experiment proved successful with simple phrases like “hello” or “hi”.
Such a discovery will obviously have much impact on the medical world. However, it should still get to go beyond the “simple” expression. The next step will be to get to the point where they can carry on a conversation. Although the devices used are still too bulky, but this progress is still spectacular and gives hope to facilitate dialogue with people paralyzed.
For this first successful experiment, the test was done with a person issuing the initial thought in India which was then interpreted by a French in Strasbourg.
