Apple could close Beats Music – Newspaper on the Net

According to TechCrunch, Apple is preparing to close the streaming site Beats. The giant had bought the company that primarily markets Headphones for $ 3.2 billion.

When Apple announced the acquisition in May of Beats Electronics for $ 3.2 billion (€ 2.3 billion), it seemed clear that the Apple brand not banked only on the popularity of Beats headphones to enhance its hardware component, but also on the Beats Music streaming service, launched a few months ago (Read: “What is the purchase of Beats Electronics will bring to Apple? “of 09/05/14) . An offer that could allow Apple to complement its iTunes Store, which requires listening to each title to listen, and try to compete, eventually, services like Spotify or Deezer. Beats Music offers, like them, listen to unlimited music streaming for ten dollars a month (Read: “Who is behind Beats Music, the service that terrifies Spotify?” Of 17/01/14 .) On redemption by Apple Beats were about 200 000 users, four months after its launch.

According to TechCrunch, Apple is preparing to close the streaming service Beats. Many engineers Beats Music have already been removed from the project to work in other teams … including Apple with the iTunes. Apple does give up therefore streaming? Nothing is less certain. This would in fact more likely to drop the Beats brand to close the site itself. Beats Music service could for example close in its current form and open another form by merging with iTunes.

A spokesman for Apple has assured that it is “not true” that the service will close without giving more comments … And it would seem, as explained Techcrunch, the Apple brand plays on words: the service does not not be completely closed because it could be integrated with Apple’s brand, but Beats Music app should go well.

The fact that the new iPhone does not have preinstalled automatically Beats Music seems to go in the direction of rumor. Furthermore, the service has hardly been mentioned in the last keynote of Apple, then it could be very suitable for use on Apple Watch, for example. Tim Cook was content to announce that the new U2 album will be available (Read: “The album U2 has cost $ 100 million to Apple … and a bad pub”, 16 / 09/14.)
