The prefect of Pas-de-Calais Fabienne Buccio announced Friday, February 12 will be evacuated “about half” of the area of the “jungle” of Calais, home in her “800 to 1,000 people” on about 4,000 migrants. “The time has come to take another step”, “no one has to live on (the) southern part of the camp (…), everyone has to leave this part,” he told reporters Ms. Buccio. By area, this was she said, pointing to a map, “is roughly half the jungle + +, it is estimated that there are 800 to 1,000 people in that part.”
According to the association of migrant hostel though, about 2,000 people camped in this part. Reeve said that, “Monday subprefect and (its) chief of staff” would visit “migrant communities to explain” the project of the state. “One week we will leave them to occupy the seats that are available to them” other than in the tent camp, “if a true movement is created, more time will be allowed,” said she said.
