Microsoft: 11 security bulletins, a cumulative update for Windows 10 – Next INpact

Microsoft releases yesterday 10586,494 the cumulative update for Windows 10. This update addresses both concerns safety and more general problems. It follows the publication of the July reports, fixes are available for all supported Windows.

Second Tuesday of the month oblige, Microsoft yesterday released its new security bulletins. As always, patches were released on Windows Update for operating systems that receive support. In all, eleven bulletins are available, half of which are critical. However, of these, two relate Flash Player that is, to reiterate, directly integrated into Internet Explorer 10 and 11, and in Edge.

These patches are mostly available from Vista Service Pack 2. Under Windows 10 , they result in a new cumulative update. As a reminder, the latest Windows does not retrieve patches separated according to correct problems. Instead, it downloads in only complemented month after month. Those update therefore get the delta, while machines with eg no Internet connection for months will download a larger file.

New global update for Windows 10

the new cumulative update is stamped 10586,494, 10586 designating the last major change in the system, the last November (called “1511″). In addition to the sealed gaps, it improves the reliability of certain components like Media Player, Internet Explorer 11, the support Miracast, Explorer or the kernel itself. Additional bugs were eradicated in Windows Update, authentication, PDF support, Bluetooth management, or Edge network and Wi-Fi connections.

Several specific concerns were also corrected. A computer or tablet could for example display a black screen after exiting connected before. More annoying still, local accounts (ie without connection to a Microsoft Online account) does not lock, in sometimes after a number of authentication attempts.

Also note that the Mobile version of the system 10 is also updated with some specific fixes. For example, a Windows Phone migration process to Windows 10 “lost” sometimes the authentication certificates. Support for backup settings in third-party applications is also improved.

Users of 10240 versions are not forgotten

Finally, those who have not performed the update November and are always on the RTM branch Windows 10 (10240) also an update to recover. We find security flaws corrected, some other common concerns to 10586.494, and some others, such as NTFS, which can in some cases create errors when restarting the machine. A bug sometimes prevented drivers to install, and support for USB 3.0 is improved when installing a CD / DVD player in SCSI.

Just as usual to open Windows Update to get all the patches, regardless of the Windows version. However, those who use the prerelease program Insider have however no updates. A build 14388 is also published yesterday in the Fast Ring, with 44 new corrections along the way. Remember that these prerelease allow testing the Anniversary Update, the final version will be released on August 2
