Mobile Network Quality: Orange before last Free – France Mobiles

ARCEP has just published the results of its evaluation of quality of service survey of mobile operators in France. The regulator has made 600 000 measures 2G, 3G and 4G inside and outside buildings and in transportation. The investigation focused on web browsing, video playback, data transfers, SMS and voice calls.

And the winner is … Orange

the survey reveals that in 2016 the overall quality of mobile services has improved, but with important differences between operators. As always, Orange pulls out of the game with the best results on all of the investigation. Bouygues Telecom and SFR have relatively comparable figures in terms of performance. The bad pupil is Free Mobile with poorer outcomes on many indicators.

mobile Internet flow rates improved through the deployment of 4G

The rates continue to increase, thanks to the deployment of 4G. The flow rates measured with a 4G smartphone are now an average of 18 Mbit / s in 2016 against 14 Mbit / s in 2015. In addition, in dense and intermediate areas, flow rates increase significantly. By cons, quality disparities between rural and urban areas are important, especially in voice calls and data rates. The average flow measured with a mobile 4G is 6 Mbit / s in rural areas and 30 Mbit / s in densely populated areas.

According to ARCEP, the deployment of 4G should continue in areas rural. The regulator found between 1 July 2015 and 1 April 2016 each operator had increased its 4G coverage from 7% of the territory. In nine months, operators have installed more than 6000 antennas 4G. Ultimately, the goal is to reduce the gap between rural and dense area. ARCEP will continue to remain vigilant concerning the deployment in rural area …
