The PlayStation 4 will soon emulate PS2 games – 01net

Yesterday, Thursday, November 19, emerged Star Wars: Battlefront on next generation consoles and PC. And with the limited package proposing the PS4 console and the game (in Deluxe version) are four small sets of Star Wars came out on PS2. This is Star Wars: Bounty Hunter , Star Wars: Jedi Starfighter , Star Wars Racer Revenge and Super Star Wars .

games that do not new then, but that run amazingly well on the new Sony platform as demonstrated by specialists Digital Foundry site, picked up by Eurogamer.

Sony: “emulated PS2 games on PS4, it is for very soon”

When asked by us, one of Sony Entertainment-spokespersons France has confirmed to us: “ We work in effect using the PS2 emulation technology to bring the PS2 games on the current generation, though we did not make more comments for the moment “.

Une confirmation comes after a short phase of silence. Dumbness which Sony had to come out after the discoveries of Digital Foundry . The site was found that the buttons “Start” and “Select” old DualShock 1/2/3 (the controller of the PlayStation) are mapped to those located on either side of the touchpad 4th generation model.

Two things were like those old games were emulated. The first, the PS2 logo appears each game launch. The second, all the buttons that appear in the game dialogues or phrases are those of Help … paddle PS2.

Sony did not give details on the technical operation of the emulator or on the economic model that will bring this service. We therefore do not know if it will be enough to slide a disc into the PS2 PS4 to retrieve an emulated version for free – if the editor has approved. Perhaps he will have to pay to access those old games or if no longer has the original disk. One thing is certain, the way of emulation to make the PS4 backwards compatible with its predecessor is an initial response to the Xbox One and its program launched last week. As long as you have the Xbox 360, Microsoft offers for free on the Xbox One.

Only now only hope that Sony side, the PS3 games will follow and why not, Microsoft side the games that made the heyday of the first Xbox …
