A computer espionage business hacked – FranceTV info

The biter. The Italian firm Hacking Team, specializing in computer espionage and monitoring tools, was hacked, Sunday, July 5, according to the Guardian (English) . Some 400 gigabytes of confidential data were stolen.

The Twitter account of the company has also been hacked and renamed “Team Hacked” (“the pirated team” in English). The pirates used it to make public several documents presented as stolen, revealing some questionable business activities.

A tweet, since deleted, showed that the company Hacking Team is passed through an intermediary to sell malicious software in Nigeria. If the transaction had proved it could be illegal, according to the British newspaper. Another document indicates that flew Hacking Team has charged a EUR 480 000 contract to Sudan, a country under UN embargo for such technologies.

On his Twitter account, now removed, Christian Pozzi, an employee of the company, reacted Monday to the publication of documents. “Much of what hackers say about our company is false , has he written. Please do not spread false information about the services we offer.” The company is already in the viewfinder of several NGOs, such as Reporters Without Borders, which ranked it in its report on “Internet enemies” in 2013.
