Google presents Project Bloks, small bricks that will teach programming to children – 01net.com

Teach children to program is one of the great challenges of the coming years. Everyone is well aware. Barack Obama has spent four billion dollars to a national apprenticeship program, Apple has introduced a app for beginners … and encoders for its part, Google devised a programming language with MIT and present this June 27, 2016 a hardware platform for the younger. the idea was born from the collaboration of Google Creative Lab of, the Ideo brand and Paulo Blikstein, a professor at Stanford University, on the principle of “tangible programming.” It was simple enough to provide a platform for it to be used from the primary. And that’s the case. It functions as elements of a building set. And transforms an abstract experience, programming, something concrete that children can better understand.



Google –

Bloks Project consists of three basic elements: the brain Board, the Board base and Puck (ie, the brain, the base part and the puck). Brain Board is the system’s centerpiece and is designed based on a Raspberry Pi Zero. It provides power and connectivity essential to the entire system and can communicate with any device over Wi-Fi or Bluetooth.

Base Boards are modules that can be connected to ” brain “to create programming flow. Each module has a capacitive sensor that receives instructions of Pucks. The latter are “the heart” of the system. These are actually pieces of code in physical form. a dial, an arrow or a switch programmed with instructions can thus find as “repeat this five times”, “turn right” or “lights” …

These elements can then be placed on the Boards base and assembled to create a sort of chain of orders that will be sent to an item on the Board Brain. One can imagine a system that would light bulb when the temperature drops

Google –

project Bloks is still in development project, it is not yet at the gates of schools. Google wants developers, teachers, researchers and parents involved to help finalize this work. It will also require funding, as this type of research project is expensive. Once the teams will be satisfied with this tool, they will open the kit to all developers in the hope that many of them as well as brands launch packages that give up wishing for children to become great programmers.
