Moto Z: Lenovo offers an ultra slim smartphone and scalable – Clubic

Lenovo announced Friday the new family of smartphones Moto Z, which adopts state of the art components, a particularly fine chassis and accessory system from graft to the device. Moto Moto Z and Z Force also abandon the jack in favor of a single port USB Type-C.

Like LG and its G5, Lenovo is committed in the way a modular smartphone with Moto Moto Z and Z Force, announced Friday at an event in San Francisco. The back of the two devices has indeed a series of magnetic connectors that allow them to add different accessories: a JBL speaker shell, a wireless charging module or a pico projector for example. Dubbed Moto Mods, this range of extensions is also intended to extend. Lenovo offers indeed a suitable development kit, and will soon launch a contest to reward the best projects.

Behind the promise of modularity, that reserve new Moto Z? Lenovo has opted for a high-end positioning, with a screen 5.5 inches (13.97 cm) Super AMOLED display panel in 2560 × 1440 pixels (Quad HD). Protected by Gorilla Glass, the whole is supported by a Snapdragon processor 820 associated with 4 GB of RAM, with 32 or 64 GB of expandable storage via microSD card. Splash proof, the Moto Z is compatible NFC, 4G (Class 9), and has a WiFi 802.11 ac controller (dual-band) and Bluetooth 4.1.


Lenovo also kept the photo part with a 13 megapixel sensor associated with an optical aperture of f / 1.8, with optical stabilization and laser autofocus, capable of recording Full HD (60 fps) and 4K (30 fps). In front, you can enjoy a second 5-megapixel sensor with wide angle lens opens to f / 2.2. With a metal body, the phone is particularly fine, 5.2 mm, and light, since it is given to 136 grams. To achieve this, the manufacturer has opted to remove the 3.5mm jack port in favor of a single USB Type-C connector. Meanwhile the right accessories, the Moto Z will be shipped with a USB to jack.

The battery reveals however a limited capacity, given to 2600 mAh, which would however be sufficient for up to 30 hours of autonomy. Lenovo also includes a quick charging mechanism (TurboPower) that would recover the equivalent of 8 hours of battery life in just 15 minutes.


Lenovo also offers the variant Moto Z Force, which resumes most features but in a slightly thicker chassis (6.9 mm). Accusing 163 grams on the scale, the Force Z embeds a more substantial battery (3100 mAh) and a back sensor 21 megapixel camera with autofocus combining laser and phase detection.

Declined in several colors, these two Moto Z should be commercially available by the end of summer at prices yet undisclosed. They will be equipped with Android 6.0.1, without overlay
