The internet giant Google has apologized Wednesday after its new facial recognition software identified a couple of African Americans like gorillas.
“We are shocked and sincerely sorry for what happened,” said a Google Wednesday night spokesperson in an email AFP.
“We are taking immediate steps to avoid a repetition of this kind of mistake,” he said.
Google reacted quickly following the Reporting the photo by a user on the social network Twitter.
“Google Photos, you are crazy!”, launched Jacky Alcine in a series of messages, pointing out how this mistake was insulting to him . “My friend is not a gorilla,” said he said.
A senior Google, Yonatan Zunger, attributed the error to artificial intelligence responsible “learn” to recognize the places, people and objects in the pictures.
