Never proceedings for patent infringement shall have been executed so quickly. On Tuesday, January 5, the company Future Motion filed a complaint before the Las Vegas federal court to two patent violations regarding a kind of hoverboard to a wheel, presented by the Chinese company Changzhou First International Trade Co. After a short telephone hearing on next day, Miranda Du judge then ordered the seizure of the material concerned. On Thursday, authorities, two US Marshals, went to the Chinese manufacturer booth and seized all his equipment as well as marketing materials.
The procedure was very fast. The Future Motion lawyer said: “ I had never heard of a case where we could get a temporary restraining order and seizure on the same day ”
The hoverboards, dangerous items?
This is the model Electric Surfing Scooter which is challenged by the Californian company. This machine looks like two drops of water to OneWheel manufactured by the California company that believes that its rival infringed patents on the stabilization function and design.
This new product type currently causing controversy . Hard to master, the machine had been banned at CES to move. Also some cheap models would tend to ignite because of defective batteries. In many countries the authorities have warned the population against these hoverboards. Amazon has even blocked the sales of the product under investigation.
