Facebook has decided to allow the users themselves to create a Safety check, the system put in place by the social network during emergencies, and that allows its users to report their “friends” that they are in a safe place. The Safety check had been triggered during the attacks in Paris on 13 November 2015 or in Brussels during the attacks of march 22, 2016. In total, it was activated 39 times in the world since its inception in 2014.
