In its response Thursday, November 10, the european Commission, the giant us computer Google responds to allegations of abuse of a dominant position via its Android operating system. For Google, “Android has not harmed competition, but has on the contrary promoted.”

last April, the european Commission had sent Google a caveat – virtually a charge in the jargon of brussels – about its operating system which is now 80% of the smartphones at the global level. The Arguments put forward by Brussels : by its conduct, Google deprives the consumer of a wider choice of applications and services, and thereby stifle innovation initiated by other actors such as Huaweï, Samsung or LG.

The american group said that it is nothing, and shows, on the contrary, how the ecosystem of Android balance the interests of developers and users, enabling in particular to a thousand brands, offering more than 20 000 applications, or different products. Google is clear : “no manufacturer is forced to pre-install Google applications on a cell phone Android.”

This case around Android comes two weeks after a previous accusation of a dominant position in the comparator group price. Before, there had been a pass of arms about the advertisements of its competitors, Google is accused of penalising some of the advertisers on its platforms.

in Short, Brussels is trying somehow to bend the giant american… in vain. If the european Commission does not lack arguments, Google resists with his own, and puts at risk the legal arsenal of the Old continent. Brussels is at the forefront when it comes to start of the procedures, but does obviously not make the law, and especially to enforce, on its own soil.

A situation that will have to change the face of the new America recently exit polls. An America that looks more offensive and certainly more wicked to strengthen its leadership on the world stage.
