Qualcomm has benefited from the announcement of the Snapdragon 835 to formalize its system of rapid charge Quick Charge 4. The promise is this time to give 5 hours of battery life with only 5 minutes of charge. With Quick Charge 4, Qualcomm promises a system that is 20 % faster than the previous system of quick-charge (QC 3.0). Faster does not mean heat will be generated higher, as the temperature management would be improved, with the promise of a lower temperature of 5 °C on the terminal. The system takes account of the temperature of the battery to adjust in real time the power given.
compared to the first generation of Quick Charge, version 4 is now more than 2.5 times faster. What to charge to 50 % battery 2 750 mAh in just a quarter of an hour. Qualcomm remains, however, far from the promise of Oppo system in which the Super VOOC is supposed to ensure a complete charging of a battery of 2500 mAh in the same period of time. But this is not the only novelty : Qualcomm now correctly handles the fast-charge cables USB Type-C. This is done in full compliance with the standard established by the consortium USB-IF, what to make for compatibility with devices USB-PD (Power Delivery). Of course, it will be necessary that the mobile chip manages the charging system. For the time being, only the freshly announced Snapdragon 835 is presented as compatible.
