Zuckerberg calls to stay “connected” – Le Figaro

The founder of Facebook Mark Zuckerberg, whose social network has found itself at the heart of a controversy surrounding the american presidential election, on Saturday called on the world to stay “connected” in an allusion to the victory of Donald Trump.

“As we have learned this year, and election after election: although globalization allows to increase the size of the cake, it was also created inequalities. It helps some people but hurts others. We must not leave anyone behind,” said the boss of Facebook, accused of having helped in the surprise victory of Donald Trump leaving post false information on its network.

“We are facing a fundamental choice to combat inequality. We can disconnect, risking less prosperity and hope that the jobs lost will come back”, has he added during a speech at the Apec summit, which convenes this weekend in Lima, the 21 leaders of the Asia-Pacific area. “Or we can connect more, try to achieve better things. Develop prosperity and to do everything possible to share between all,” said Mark Zuckerberg. “There is no doubt that the second way is the best. But it must be recognized that it is also the most difficult. Disconnecting is relatively easy,” he concluded.
