Galaxy Note 7 : Samsung is going to limit the charging for the latest models – Europe1

Samsung continues to fight with its Galaxy Note 7. After having recalled definitely the smartphone in mid-October, the manufacturer south Korean is about to take a far more radical. It will make the smartphones distributed in the United States unusable. In France, their charge will be limited to 30% of the battery capacity.

The loading capacity is limited in Europe. According to Samsung, a little more than 10% of Galaxy Note 7 have not been returned by their owners since the launch of the recall procedure it has been almost two months. To avoid any risk of explosion of these models, the company has therefore decided to take drastic action. The options differ depending on the country. In France, but also in the United Kingdom, the manufacturer says that it will deploy on December 15, an update limiting the charging of the device at 30% of its capacity. A way to avoid the refills are too long and reduce the risk of overheating. The usefulness of this measure, however, presents a question, when a first expert report in advance that the explosions would not be directly due to the battery, but the design of the Galaxy Note 7.

smartphones blocked in the United States. in Addition to-Atlantic, the measurement is even more radical. Samsung Mobile US does, in fact, the dissemination of an update blocker fully charging the Galaxy Note 7. In other words, once the smartphone has been discharged, it will be impossible for the user to load it again. They will also be unable to connect to the smaller network. T-Mobile will be the first operator to deploy this update on the 27th of December, followed by AT&T on January 5, and Sprint on January 8. With such a measure, more than to make the phone unusable, it is mainly for Samsung to push the owners of Note 7 to (finally) returning their copies.

A huge fiasco. But the road is still long for the south-Korean company. Before you can hope to move on to something else, the company must complete to recover its devices, but also reveal by the end of the year his survey report on what will go down as one of the biggest fiascoes in the history of new technologies.
