The chinese manufacturer TCL will design the future BlackBerry smartphones – CNET France

Only a few weeks after you have officially stopped the production of smartphones, the canadian group BlackBerry announced a partnership with chinese manufacturer TCL (Alcatel). BlackBerry will focus on the in-house design of software solutions, as well as various security services. TCL will take care of the hardware part and the distribution of the new models.

” BlackBerry and TCL announced the signing of a contract for a very long time. In the framework of this partnership, BlackBerry will provide its suite of software, service and security to TCL to design and produce mobile phones under the BlackBerry brand, ” has the venerable brand in a press release.

This new partnership is not by chance. These two entities have already collaborated in the past in particular for the production of the BlackBerry DTEK50 and DTEK60 – two recent smartphone running Android – what it is, this new agreement is not of the same ilk. TCL will develop fully the smartphone ; the exterior design to the choice of the slab and the processor.

TCL becomes the manufacturer and exclusive distributor for all BlackBerry smartphones with the exception of a few countries : Sri Lanka, Nepal, Bangladesh and Indonesia. More information on the roadmap and availability will be communicated in the coming months.
