The center data ( “data center” ) of the Rateau Street in La Courneuve (Seine-Saint-Denis) can no longer be exploited. This was decided by the Administrative Court of Montreuil, on 16 October. The combination of coastal Urbaxion 93 has obtained the annulment of the decree dated 13 December 2013 authorizing the company to exploit the Interxion building 9000 square meters hosting computer servers.

The Administrative Court has based its judgment on noise pollution caused by the complex refrigeration system and generators used in case of power failure. Coupled with “twelve tanks of fuel, four air tanks” 300 000 liters of fuel, said the specialized site Zdnet.fr, eight generators concerned residents. Yet they are essential for the data center that consumes the equivalent of a city of 50,000 inhabitants.

“I think this is a first in France”

To decide, the Administrative Court has, he relied on the public inquiry which took place over a month and why only seven people came. A public inquiry which, according to Mr. Roxane who attended the complainants, “was poorly done and did not allow people to be informed. The published notice was hard to understand and did not indicate that it concerned a data center “. “We won and it’s really huge. I think this is a first in France, “ has, for his part, welcomed, in the columns of Paris Matilda, one of the inhabitants behind the remedies.

Interxion, which has already invested 132 million euros in this data center, has two months to appeal. This ruling comes as the company had to extend the building of the street and wanted Rateau created a new data center of 44,000 m2, also in La Courneuve.
