YouTube will offer its paid version on October 28 – Les Echos

After ten years of free, YouTube opens surcharge. The subsidiary of Google on Wednesday announced the launch of an offer to pay subscription for viewing its content without advertising. The offer, called Red YouTube, will be launched in the US on October 28 at a price of 9.99 dollars per month, the group said. To attract more users to its paid version, the company offers its customers free use of its new music streaming service, YouTube Music Key. YouTube Red is currently only available in the United States.

The paid version of YouTube will allow subscribers to save videos to their computer or mobile support for later viewing, even without internet connection. It will also allow them to continue to play a video launched even leaving the application. Finally, as noted by the specialized site TechCrunch, subscribers YouTube Red will have access to exclusive content from next year.

A double bet

Red By launching YouTube, Google performs a double challenge: to attract users pay for a globally considered free service, and successfully fit into the ultra competitive market of music streaming.
