iFixit takes the Macbook Pro with Touch Bar… and discovers a nasty surprise – 01net.com

The new MacBook Pro Apple, are the source of many questions relating to their SSD. The first 13-inch models available, without the famous bar ” OLED touch Touch Bar, were disassembled by OWC and iFixit, who pointed out that the SSD is in the form of a module, course owner, but removable. This opens the door to the possibility of changing the SSD in the event of a problem, or to replace it by a model of larger capacity.

This is unfortunately not the case with the models with Touch Bar. iFixit, as always, is also delivered to a disassembly of the version 13-inch and noticed that the SSD is a removable module, such as for the version without Touch Bar.

The photo below shows a close up of the components of the SSD on the motherboard, in the case of the flash memory chips from SanDisk. Therefore, the replacement of the SSD is simply impossible.

This discovery confirms the photos sent in by visitors to the site MacRumours, who had already raised the issue a few hours earlier.

The teardown also reveals the wide spaces around the five blocks of the battery of 49.2 Wh. This can be for reasons of circulation of air or to take account of the fact that a farm grows slightly in operation. As in the model without the Touch Bar, the battery is securely attached to the housing. Note that it has not been possible to remove the bar touch OLED without the break.

in The end, the 13-inch MacBook Pro with Touch Bar gets a score catastrophic only 1 in 10 versus 2 in 10 for the version without the bar OLED. This computer is therefore extremely difficult to repair.
