Microsoft has damaged millions of webcam with Windows 10 Anniversary – Tom’s Guide


August 2, Microsoft launched the Windows 10 Anniversary update the occasion of one year of Windows 10. the update was supposed to improve computer performance. Unfortunately, a few days after its release, it is more than obvious that the update encounter big problems. In fact, Windows 10 Anniversary would have damaged millions of webcams. Many users and professionals complained to Microsoft because their USB cameras have struggled to operate since the installation of Windows 10 Anniversary.


In fact, this new version of Windows 10 no longer supports MJPEG and H264 on USB webcams. This was a willingness on the part of the company wanted to reduce the number of formats in which the videos were released to enhance the performance of the PC . MJPEG and H.264 formats are indeed at risk of being duplicated.

However, Microsoft who agreed to do and did not expect all these negative impacts on webcams. The company says that even when Windows 10 continues to have the highest customer satisfaction than any other version of Windows has ever had and they received only a very small number of complaints following the last day Windows 10 Anniversary. For now, engineers and customer service are trying to find solutions to the problem. Microsoft plans a final adjustment by next September for the MJPEG format. Nevertheless, concerning the format H264 it will wait a little longer.
