Nvidia Titan X was tested, the most powerful graphics card market – 01net.com

Yes, it is the most powerful graphics card the moment! NVIDIA’s new Titan X even better bears his name as the previous iteration, already capable of the finest graphics delusions. Pascal and new architecture requires, NVIDIA had to place a very large version of its latest GPU on a map for the general public. Well, almost: 1300 euros and sold only on the NVIDIA site, the Titan will -as the old model of ailleurs- are suitable only for luxury lovers 3D maps

An exceptional craft whose potential is fully revealed in demanding video games, to blow tens or even hundreds of images per second. A potential which, moreover, can attract the interest of professionals who use the computing power of graphics chips to accelerate certain calculations in compatible business applications. Finally, the Titan X could also eye specialists in artificial intelligence, particularly the deep learning , an area where NVIDIA holds an important place. Indeed, the chip of the card, called GP102, embeds hardware instructions helping the construction or development of algorithms dedicated to progressive learning of artificial brain system.

Yes, There not that pure and hard game that counts for NVIDIA, yet it is in this area that we’ll test this new juggernaut of the polygon.

Titan X Pascal: Full HD 1440p and an appetizer

We will not stay on technical specifications of the card. will simply be noted that, compared to the old version, this Titan X displays frequency faster operation and about 15% more computing units. As many as the Tesla Pascal, the cards that are found … in supercomputers.

Let’s get into the nitty-gritty: the tests. We put to our new test platform (see description below) to bring the Titan X to the test. The drivers used for GeForce cards are 368.8,1 except for the new X Titan which enjoys its own drafts, the 369.05. We also used the same games used to test the GTX 1080. And we use automated test procedures established in the past.

prowl this luxurious card, we made him do some laps track in the usual definitions, namely the Full HD (1920 by 1080 pixels) and 1440p (2560 by 1440 pixels). Here are the results.

The results speak for themselves. The Titan X Pascal generation makes a clean and clear away its old counterpart generation in all our tests. Full HD, it can provide up to 65% performance increase in some games. Smoothed, the results of our tests show an average increase of 39%. In 1440p, it noted discrepancies of up to 67% and in overall average, the Titan X remains 50% more efficient than the version of Maxwell.

Between 1080 and GTX Titan X, the gap is less widened since the maximum gain is 30% found in Full HD, with a smoothed average of 17%.
1440p the Titan X is (on one occasion) 48% better than 1080; the rest of the time she is leading with an average of 25% of frames per second generated more.

X Titan does rhyme with 4K?

We continue with extreme discipline: 4K. A screen resolution still very uncommon among gamers but for GPU designers, embodies the ultimate workhorse. A bit like the RV that is it, more marginal but also almost-intensive graphics power.

As a reminder, during the release of the former Titan X in 2015, proclaimed that NVIDIA c ‘LE model was to play on the big picture definitions. In fact, it was however willing to drastically lower the details of some games not to lose fluidity. And a few weeks later, the GTX 980 Ti had just reshuffle the cards, replace the Titan X and offer some fps better.

In 2016, the scenario is also reproduced with the release of 1080 GTX in May that, indeed, was better in ultra high definition than any other GeForce. But still do not provide enough power to have both high levels of detail and a great image. The Titan X Pascal she would finally map longed to finally have the 4K as beautiful as fluid on compatible screens

? Balance Sheet, Titan X holds good for 4K. On average and compared to the Maxwell version, number of frames per second calculated increase of 60%. However, this is not enough to turn any AAA title in background without asking any question! No, after the games, it will sometimes see a hint of details down. Instead of “Ultra”, it will be satisfied with a “Very High” somewhat settled or a “High” boosted.

The Division or Far Cry Primal are perfect examples: the profile “Ultra” slightly modified, the fateful 60 frames per second is reached. With the profile “Up” (not shown but measured), however, the bearing is crossed on both Ubisoft games. As well as good numbers of our other titles.

Clearly, the Titan X is the first ultra high-end graphics card to be eligible combine fluidity and good quality of graphics in most 4K latest games. And there is no need to change the power of the PC to enjoy.

An impressive fuel efficiency

Alongside the power consumption is the other sinews of war in the small world of the graphics card. With Maxwell architecture GeForce GTX 9xx, NVIDIA had a good yield performance / watt consumed and, with Pascal, green designer raises the bar a notch above.

A few watts close, our platform equipped the Titan X Pascal consumes a tad less than the GeForce GTX 980 Ti and, in a session of 3D Mark heavy 4K. Yet the cards do not offer quite the same level of performance! Note however that the new X Titan shows a little more greedy than its counterpart Maxwell in the same conditions. But again, for the services offered is really not expensive paid!

Who to stop and NVIDIA Pascal?

With an average gain of 50% power by compared to the Titan X Maxwell and 23% faster than the 1080 Titan X is undoubtedly a very good graphics card and especially a sacred showcase technology for NVIDIA. Finally, an ultra high-end 4K card which does not frighten. This is also to date, the most gifted reference in the field … the price of a few small adjustments to reconcile fluidity and beauty. Because, yes even for a card to 1300 euros, all is not perfect (yet)

Our new platform test, the absence of AMD cards

the forensic platform 01net.com revamped and offers a last components anthology cry for attack in September
thanks to Intel, Asus, G.Skill, Crucial and Sandisk

Processor:. Intel Core i7-6700K
Memory: G. Skill 16 GB (2×8 GB) Trident Z (DDR4-2800)
motherboard: Asus Z170 Pro gaming
SSD Crucial M4 256GB (Windows 10) and Sandisk Ultra II 480 GB (games and workbenches)
supply: Seasonic SS-1000XP Active

We could not lay hands on high card templates range from AMD for this test. In addition, we could not decently reuse scores in tests of 1080 saw GTX our test platform has evolved significantly. However, we do our best to get back the Radeon R9 390X R9 Fury and others as soon as possible and in order to have a full comparison.
