New MacBook Pro : compatibility problems with some Thunderbolt devices 3 ? – ZDNet France

The rain of criticisms about the new MacBook Pro, Apple does not cease. After the controversy surrounding the lack of USB ports conventional port and SD (a peak when one aims at the professional image, and video), it is today the support of Thuderbolt via the USB-C which created the controversy.

Obviously, all the Thunderbolt devices 3 are not supported by the machine. This is the conclusion of Plugable.com provider of devices with two of its products, which allow to obtain two ports DisplayPort and two HDMI ports. Technically, the Mac would have trouble with the circuit Texas Instrument of first generation to this on an unlimited number of USB devices-C.

Made aware, Apple is for the moment a deaf ear : “We have no comment to make on the specific complaint of Plugable products using the new sets of components Thunderbolt, with updated drivers, have no problem connect to any MacBook Pro 2016,” explains the firm to AppleInsider.
Remember that in the face of the grumbling, Apple has agreed to lower the price of its adapters, but only on a temporary basis… “We recognize that many users, particularly in the workplace, they still need this kind of taken in the framework of their profession”, has recognized Apple. “We want to help make the transition to a better technology, as well as to more quickly develop this new ecosystem.”

Concretely, a dozen accessories, including a USB-C to USB, is now sold less expensive. The latter is for example charged 9 euros instead of 25 euros. The USB cable-C to Lightning is sold 25 euros instead of 29 euros etc… Attention nevertheless, these lower prices are only valid until the end of the year. It should not exaggerate either…

One thing is for sure, with machines sold at a minimum of € 1,500, Apple could have the good idea to offer these adapters without this ruin his great profitability…
