Intel Skylake Cortana interface in Windows 10 – ZDNet France

Intel is currently holding its high in San Francisco developer conference, the Intel Developer Forum. The opportunity for the giant processors to present their technological innovations, including his last bullet. Skylake

And on these processors, Intel announced a new technology for Windows machines 10 that will be equipped: booting voice through interfacing with the electronic assistant of the OS, Cortana

Through activating a voice command Cortana. “Hey Cortana” including the user of a Windows 10-compatible terminal will therefore start it and get the sleep mode. The name of this feature. Wake-on-Voice

The principle is based on a DSP (Digital Signal Processor) or “DSP”. Always active and listening, the microprocessor will therefore capture the sound signal and interpret it. Revolutionary? Not really.

The Verge points out that a similar option already exists on Xbox One (with Kinect and Cortana) and the smartphone Moto X. But our colleagues point out that especially Clubic solution “Smart Sound” had already been presented by Intel in 2013 for Broadwell processors or the generation prior to Skylake.

The real novelty is the implementation in partnership with Microsoft. Moreover, this function appears not very critical in the choice of a computer and / or an operating system, and therefore can remain fairly gadget as the number of users for Cortana.
