The voice of Stephen Hawking software now available as open source – Eco News .com

Everyone knows the scientific and most intelligent of his generation astrophysicist, Stephen Hawking. But we do not know it only for his genius, his wheelchair and his voice broadcast by communications software work together to create a figure apart and unmistakable. Well, now, the communication software that was reserved for it is open access.

This is from the Intel Corporation, also well known, which created the ACAT software measure astrophysicist which was previously the only one with this system (it is suffering from the neurodegenerative disease Charcot which causes progressive paralysis of the whole body). But since the word in a democratic world can not be distributed according to the intelligence of all, Intel Corporation has now decided to release to the public this software that could help many people with disabilities.

ACAT will be usable by all people with disabilities

Heavily disabled, Stephen Hawking, who lost the power of speech, use this software to transcribe the movements of his face into text. The contractions of his plays are detected by an infrared sensor attached to his glasses and a tablet, installed on his wheelchair, allowing it to enter text by contracting his cheek when the cursor is on the right letter.

ACAT can now be used by disabled people who want it. They will however have all the equipment needed to run the software. An expense that can rise all the same to a few thousand euros.

ACAT will simply improve the lives of millions of disabled

The software, available under Windows only captures IR system contractions and the movement of the cheeks and the transcribed text form on a tablet scope. Advanced technology that can now be put at the service of people with severe disabilities and are unable to communicate.

Now available for all, the ACAT software (Assistive Context-Aware Toolkit) Intel could improve the lives of millions of people with disabilities.

A Brief History of Stephen Hawking

Stephen William Hawking born in Oxford, is a theoretical physicist and cosmologist UK.

Stephen Hawking is a mathematics teacher at the University of Cambridge from 1980 to 2009, member of Gonville and Caius College, Cambridge and distinguished researcher of Perimeter Institute for Theoretical Physics. He is known for his contributions in the fields of cosmology and quantum gravity, especially in the context of black holes. Its success is also linked to his popular science books in which he discusses his own theories and cosmology in general, as the best-selling A Brief History of Time (original title: A Brief History of Time ), which remained on the list of records of the bestsellers of Sunday Times for 237 consecutive weeks. Hawking suffers from a neuromuscular dystrophy assigned to amyotrophic lateral sclerosis (ALS); her disease has progressed over the years and left him almost completely paralyzed.

The Stephen Hawking’s career spans over 40 years

The key of the main scientific work Stephen Hawking to date is based, in collaboration with Roger Penrose, theorems on the development of singularities in the framework of general relativity, and the theoretical prediction that black holes should emit radiation, known as today Hawking radiation name (or sometimes Bekenstein-Hawking radiation). This is a world-renowned theoretical physicist whose scientific career spans over 40 years. His books and public appearances have made him an academic celebrity. He is an honorary member of the Royal Society of Arts and a lifetime member of the Pontifical Academy of Sciences. (source wikipedia)
