This is a real black series for Samsung. After the scandal of the Galaxy Note 7 explosives that have resulted in a recall world and the discontinuation of its production, the giant south Korean company must now manage a new problem of size. A large number of models of its washing machines is experiencing a major security problem leading again to a reminder massif. Still a hard blow for the image of the giant not badly tarnished in the last few months.
No less than 2.8 million washing machines are to be recalled, only in the United States, according to a report by the commission of consumer protection, u.s. (CPSC). 34 models of washing machine are involved, sold between march 2011 and November 2016, with models ranging from 450 to 1,500 dollars : “The cover of these machines can detach unexpectedly from the chassis while it is running, which presents a risk of injury”, one can read in the recall notice. Samsung states that the models concerned have not been distributed in Europe.
The case is again not trivial since Samsung has received approximately 733 notifications of incidents, including 9 cases of injuries (broken jaw, a broken shoulder, as well as falls). Already three complaints have been filed.
According to figures from Credit Suisse given to the Wall Street Journal, Samsung may lose up to 15 billion euros in this case after the billions lost with the Note 7. And the risk of losing all credibility in the United States…
