It is now official : Apple finally leaves the market for the external monitor. The constructor californian had stopped the production and marketing of its Thunderbolt Display this summer.
Is this to say that the company, which has more than contributed to the development of screens for the professional edition (in the good old days of desktop publishing) completely abandons this sector ? Probably not : its Mac have specific needs, especially during their launch, as has been the case of the MacBook Pro with USB ports,-C, and Thunderbolt 3.
This is why Apple has worked with LG to develop two external monitors 4K (4.096 x 2.304, 219 ppp) and 5K (5.120 x 2.880, 218 dpi), respectively 21.5 and 27-inch, extra fine. These screens are of course compatible with the MacBook and MacBook Pro with USB-C — the monitors can also be used to load the computers and office hub USB-C. The support of Thunderbolt 3 (for MacBook Pro) have an additional advantage : you can adjust the brightness and the volume of the speakers from the Mac.
The prices are 749 euros for the 4K, 1 399 euros for the 5K.
