Sharp unveils a smartphone that could prefigure the iPhone 8 – 01net.com

At CEATEC in Tokyo, the japanese equivalent of THESE u.s., the manufacturer Sharp has unveiled several prototypes to demonstrate its know-how in the field of high-tech. First of all, the Android smartphone Corner R is distinguished by its rounded shapes, in particular at the top of the screen, and the lack of space between the screen and a 5.2 inch Full HD and the edge of the device, except at the bottom. The manufacturer confirms its know-how in the field of smartphones with screens without a border. While rumors about the next iPhone show a device where the screen occupies the entire surface, the Corner R could be a sketch of the concept.

The smartphone by Sharp uses the technology Free-Form Display, which allows the cutting of tiles of the screen, IGZO (Indium gallium zinc oxide) in many forms. The manufacturer has also demonstrated a screen IGZO of 2.8 inches offering a density of 1000 points per inch, namely a definition of 1920 x 2160 pixels, and is intended, among other virtual reality headsets. In comparison, the two screens of the Oculus Rift have a density of 461 pixels per inch and the Galaxy Note 7 Samsung monte to 518 points per inch.

A monitor 8K of only 27 inches

The japanese manufacturer has also taken advantage of the technology IGZO in its monitors, and unveiled at CEATEC a model 27-inch IPS panel that offers a definition of 7680 x 4320 pixels.

This is the first monitor to 8K with this “small” size because other manufacturers have already presented models of 80 inches or more.

The prototype shown by Sharp is also equipped with a display rate higher than 120 Hz, and the HDR technology to improve the quality of the image. On the other hand, the photos show that this monitor is really very thick.
