Samsung just put on the market for a new computer type desktop : ArtPC Pulse. It is a high-end product set in a cylindrical casing of aluminum.
If the machine, that is changing in Windows 10, is modular (possibility to change the components), the ArtPC Pulse recalls the initiatives the Mac Pro from Apple and Pavilion Wave on the side of HP in its default configuration. Its design also reminds one of the personal assistant Amazon Echo.
With a diameter of 14 cm and a height of 27 cm, it is presented as ” 87% more compact than the average desktop PC.
at this rate, we are in the presence of a PC, incorporating an Intel “Skylake” intel Core i5-6400 to 4 cores clocked at 2.7 GHz and coupled with 8 Gb of RAM DDR4. For 400 dollars more, we move to the Core i7-6700 (still 4 cores but clocked up to 3.4 GHz).
It should be noted that the Pulse is not equipped with a processor ” Kaby Lake “, the 7th generation of Intel processors that succeed ” Skylake “.
The mass storage is handled by an SSD of 256 Gb. The RAM is doubled to 16 Gb and an additional hard drive of 1 Tb is the complement of the device.
The two versions have in common is the graphics card Radeon RX 460 signed AMD. This is the entry range of the family Polaris. Certainly decent in terms of performance, the graphical solution does not meet the specifications of the virtual reality helmet Oculus Rift.
Samsung emphasizes the sound diffusion omnidirectional achieved with a speaker 360 degrees signed Harman Kardon.
with Regard to the connectivity are four USB 3.0 ports, an Ethernet port, an SD card reader, an HDMI port, a jack and a port USB Type-C.
The entry ticket is set at $ 1200. The Samsung ArtPC Pulse will be marketed in the United States from the 28th of October. No detail is provided about a possible availability in Europe.
In a market of the PC, morose, Samsung tries to play the renewal. According to IDC, it has expired 64.3 million PCS in the second quarter of 2016 in the world (-5,2% in one year).
