WikiLeaks meets archives stolen from Sony Pictures – BBC

WikiLeaks publishes more than 200,000 data from the hacking of Sony Pictures in 2014, accompanied by a search engine to search the best entertainment giant’s archives.

” The Sony Archive “: 173,132 e-mails, 30,287 documents and over 2,200 email addresses of the US giant Sony Pictures Entertainment. This is the huge database that the website WikiLeaks, specializing in the publication of confidential documents, just put online.

These documents had already leaked on the Internet after the resounding hacking Sony Pictures in December assigned by the Americans to North Korea at the time of release of the film The Interview. But the interest of this package is that it brings together all in one place and allows you to search by keywords, with many advanced settings.

For its founder Julian Assange, these documents are of public interest because they show “the workings of an influential multinational firm.”

Links between Sony and Democrats

The logo chosen by WikiLeaks ( see picture ) to illustrate this search page may seem strange at first: a Spider-Man squatting removes his mask to reveal a featureless face on which is affixed a picture of a donkey. This is actually the archives revelations illustration on the links between officials of the Democratic Party – whose symbol is a ane- and Sony Pictures, who brought to the screen the adventures of Spider-Man

Some of the data concern France. As these exchanges dating back to 2013 between Chris Dodd, a former Democratic senator from Connecticut converted into a lobbyist for Hollywood studios, and officials from Warner Bros, Fox, Paramount, or Disney. They welcome the court decision that ordered the ISPs and search engines to block access to several illegal streaming sites like Allostreaming particularly popular at the time.

Sony Pictures has objected to the publication of these data in a statement, arguing that they are private. “The cyber attack Sony Pictures was a malicious criminal action, and we strongly condemn this index,” responded the firm.

WikiLeaks stalled

WikiLeaks lost his aura in recent years, particularly due to the focusing of the site’s founder, Julian Assange. The hacktivist group Anonymous has for example stopped its collaboration with WikiLeaks in 2012, accusing him of “having forgotten his fight for freedom of information and the disclosure of secret information. Instead, we hear no more legal problems that Julian Assange and the urgent need for funding of the site. “

Julian Assange recluse for almost three years at the Embassy of Ecuador London. British police, who tries to stop his extradition to Sweden where he is accused of rape, camped in front of the building day and night. The Australian it refuses to surrender, convinced that he will be extradited to the United States, where it may be considered for publication from 2010 by WikiLeaks of diplomatic documents and confidential military. He recently agreed to be heard by the Swedish investigators in the Ecuadorian embassy.
